New album from Smashing Pumpkins...

It's apparently been out since last month! I didn't even know about it, until I heard a new song on the radio yesterday (it's called "That's the Way (My Love Is)" not too shabby either), and they mentioned the album.

It's not getting great reviews; 2 stars out of 5 on AMG. Their real last album (with all of the members of the band minus the bassist) was pretty awful, so I don't have very high hopes for this one.

Well, I got it. I scanned over all the tracks, and there are some songs that sound very much like classic SP. However, all of the songs sound very mediocre, and like not a whole lot of thought was put into them. I don't like any of the songs, but there are a few that I thought were okay. The song that you can hear on the radio is probably gonna be the only half-decent song on the album.

I doubt it's even selling, it wasn't even on the top-searched results on *******.com

Billy is a whiny bitch and thats why his band mates left him. That and his dictator type stranglehold on the creative process. It was pretty much only ever was Billy solo albums. The other band members were there to fill stage spots on tours.

Shorline Ampetheater, Lolapalooza 199...4? The one where Nirvana was supposed to play but Kurt smoked himself instead. The Pumpkins were there and pretty much made asses out of themselves throwing temper tantrums on stage. It was ridiculous.

Even still Siamese Dream was amazing. I still love just about every track on that album. Everything else has sucked MASSIVE wang, including Meloncollie. STOP WHINING BILLY. Good gracious

Yah, Corgan sucks. Zwan and his self titled album are basically just him and some hired guns to fill out the lineup. Since the new album failed to reunite the original group, it's Smashing Pumpkins in name alone.

you're the noob, not mentioning the title of the album... I searched for the title (Zeitgeist) and since there were no search results, I posted my own thread. :)

Never really liked SP, mostly because Billy Corgan sucks at singing, or whatever the hell you want to call it.

"sucks at singing" is what I'd call it as well.

Gish and Siamese Dream are really the only albums I like from SP... I bought Melloncollie back in the day, but out of the 28 songs on the 2 discs, I only liked maybe 1 or 2 songs off of each disc. Everything after Melloncollie was absolute crap. However, after their (real) last album "Machina: The Machines of God" there was a HUGE collection of B-sides and rarities that could be downloaded for free called "Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music" that was okay, and included lots of rare and unreleased songs going all the way back to SP's early days.

I like Smashing Pumpkins. I'm not a huge fan, but I like their music. I recently listened to their new album... it definitely was their best stuff.

I'm giving it another listen (this time listening to whole songs), and I gotta say, "Bleeding the Orchid" is quite good. :)
