I have 512mb of PC2400 DDR RAM... I read somewhere that you always set it to half of your total RAM. So I have mine set on 256... Is this right?

If its working then leave it as it is, you don`t get any noticable performance boost.

But it can solve performance problems you may have by changing it eg. stuttering etc.

Some setups require it disabled others prefer setting to 64MB, what ever works for you.

No.
Set the AGP ram to TWICE the total ram of your graphics card.

Set (within windows) the RAM CACHE to 1/2 your total ram.

You just got those settings backwards is all.

That doesen't sound right. Back when I had 64mb of RAM and a Radeon 64mb DDR, I had the aperture set on 64mb and it didn't work. Textures in games were missing and the game would be really choppy. I disabled it and then it worked. When I upgraded to 256mb, I set it to 128 and it worked fine after that.

AGP aperture sizes/settings don't follow always rules and that because chipsets and motherboards differ. What may work well on one motherboard doesn't necessarily mean that it works well on another one too.

Perhaps you weren't listening...

Set the AGP ram to TWICE that of the RAM on your video card.

Thus, AGP aperature would be set at 128 from a 64mb card.

You're computers usable system RAM is entirely different. It has nothing to do with where you set the AGP size.

That's because I just told you to set it to TWICE the video RAM. Should have been set at 128.

"When I upgraded to 256mb (of system RAM), I set it to 128 and it worked fine after that." ...
That's because you corrected the original problem without knowing it.

Much like my page file, I set my AGP size to as low as I can get away with. Works for me :)

Marianozz,

I don't know if you're teasing or not.

He has a 64mb video card. AGP should be set to 128 (64x2).

his system RAM is 256 mb. That has no relation to this subject.
