From a show of hands...
Of all the people that went to the store and bought Return to Castle Wolfenstein, how many of you went 2 or 3 boxes in the stack to try and get one that wasnt all muffed up with a box in bad shape? :)
Kudos to Activision for this box effect.
Guess thats why they released a version in a Tin Box. :D

LOL! I'll be honest, I was looking at them last week and did. Never bought, but looking none the less :)

I grabbed one and went to the counter, and only looked to make sure the box seal stickers were on (to be sure no @sswipe opened it to copy CD key). I didn't really pay attention to the box art til I got home.

I only went once. And noticed the "aged" box effect. But since the seals were in place and all the boxes looked like that, I figured it was "ART" and bought it.
Funny thing, the game: boring after the graphics awe wears off.
But the Multiplayer is STILL FREAKING AWESOME.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!! ME!!!!! This is just too damn funny because that is EXACTLY what I did! hehe. :D
Went to the mall and RTCW is sold out. Stopped at Kmart and they had exactly four of them. Nice....So I'm not waiting for EB to get more in stock. First one I pick up looks like someone had bought it, ran over it with a car, left it in the rain, then brought it back to the store for a refund when they didn't like it.
Yup, I was confused when I picked up the next one. I was thinkin' in my head- "How old is this game again? How long have these boxes been sittin' on the shelf and been dropped on the floor, walked on and then put back on the shelf?"
(note the faked ragged looking edges and scratches in my pic)

Then as I was now holding three of them looking to see if the seal was broke/opened and retaped and stuff or which one was in the best physical shape, I finally think I got it, D'oh!! HAHAHA.....
Kickass game BTW. For me it's like living Goldeneye on the n64 all over again. Good graphics, good gameplay, good everything.... BTW Shark, What made you think to post this? Are you guilty of the same thing? hehe, This is too funny! :D

I've really enjoyed the single player campaign so far. I think I'm on the last level of mission 6. Love that tesla gun.
And, yea, I picked a few boxes up before realizing the defects were intentional. I'm the same way with books. . .I scrutinize for the one in the best condition before buying. It's called being anal, at least according to my wife. :(

My cousin saw my box and said, didnt you just get this, how did you ruin it. But the good thing is, you cant tell from real bends or fake.

hehe. Good! I'm not alone then. :)
John- you can tell your wife I'm "anal" too by her measurement. hehe.
I'm digging this game as well. Nice graphics, great control and cool plot.
I still havent figured out how to use a sniper scope, but have been doing okay with using the binoculars then firing immediately upon return from them. :)

Like the other man that just went and looked I too looked in two different locations (CompUSA and EB) and folks each box looked muffed up and beat up and like some UPS truck ran it over a couple of times. There's my observation. Out!
Sharky,
I think the default sniper scope key is "z". Not 100% sure because I changed the defualt key for it during setting it up. To find the default sniper key or change it:
Options > Shoot > Switch to alternate

Right-click and that'll bring up the gun's scope. I then use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. . .works great.

There was. It was for preorders & maybe more. It was way more expensive. Other than the tin case, it has the game, a RtCW patch and cast of characters poster. Not worth the money.

Hey, I bought the collector's edition for Baldur's Gate 2 and I'm buying the one for Morrowind. Bigger is better, or so my wife says (which I think refers to an ex-boyfriend of hers, though she never comes clean on that one).
