I liked it. none of the girls that went with us did but all the guys that I know that have seen it like it. the only problem I really have with the movie is what makes it so good.
The camera shaking that is. it made me so dizzy that I puked after the movie. THE GLORY OF DLP!
I would recommend watching it. :D
It looks interesting, but I'll probably wait for a rental.
Speaking of which, I rented Resident Evil: Extinction today, and even though it's an enjoyable popcorn movie, it starts off way better than it ends.

Quite good in my humble estimation.
It was good... it's worth the watch, but not a movie I would probably see again because theres no really point to watch it a second time...theres not enough action for me to see it twice, and the camera shaking is way over the top.. I mean people bitched about Transformers but damn, this movie just took it too another level.
Yes cloverfield was fricking awesome... i loved it.

LOL! That adds the realism of the movie. How could they not do this for this type of movie? I agree a few scenes were pretty confusing and got pretty dizzy.
The trailers spell out what the movie is about and what kind of movie it is, I just find if funny that people go into it and come out dissapointed expecting something else.
I thought for what the movie was intended to be, it was quite awesome.

Just got back. It's good. It's nothing too complicated - big f**kin' thing tears Manhattan another asshole. But that's like saying the movie signs is about an alien invasion of earth. It's true, but it's the unique perspective we get on the events that makes it interesting.
Like Signs was about an alien offensive through the eyes of a Pennsylvania farmer, Cloverfield is a monster rampage through the eyes of an everyman with a camera at a going away party. Load up on the Dramamine, but it's certainly worth watching.

So was the monster pretty big, and was it cheesy? That's my fear a cheesy monster.

I love you. Finally someone that understands it what I've been saying.
Cloverfield was never meant to be a Godzilla destroy manhattan movie. I don't recall seeing mathew brodrick anywhere in this film.

Saw it on Friday night with my lady and both of us agreed it was pretty much the most intense movie we've ever seen. I absolutely loved the way it was made, the whole handheld aspect to me was what really made it so intense. I highly recommend that if you want to watch it, watch it in theaters.

My friend saw the new Bean movie and said it was good, and guess what it wasn't. Sometimes our friends have crappy taste.

Then Gouda III: The Goudanation of Paris is something to avoid at all costs.
As well as Gouda IV: Electric Goudaloo.

LOL...I took my daughter to that movie on the recommendation of a coworker (who swore it was the funniest film he'd ever seen). Needless to say, I will NEVER listen to that person's opinion again. That was the biggest pile of garbage I've ever walked in to. If my daughter hadn't been there, I'd have walked out after the first 5 minutes. (still should have)
Guess I need to go see Cloverfield this weekend.

I heard it wasn't so much the big monster to fear... but the body lice it was carrying.

By the way, Signs sucked.
Sure it had good acting, and great cast. But Aliens who dissolve in water wouldn't invade a planet made of of 70% of the stuff. Shit, all that preacher had to do was turn on the sprinklers in his cornfield.

It wasn't suspenseful nor scary. The only spooky part was the scene where you see the alien in the background of that home video of that girls birthday party (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czy4RjcrpFM), that was it. Everything else was just yawnish.
Plus, I hated how they marketed the movie.. I did walk in expecting an alien invasion, like, alot of action and stuff. Boy was I disappointed lol.

Umm maybe not the best movie for me to watch since it's all shaky. Theres a cam online
some movie site called grabngovideo.com. Monster was pretty cool looking though, but I think I would have totally lost my lunch watching on the big screen.

There's theories about that point (most common being that they weren't an invading force, but a starving, desperate one - evidenced by their apparent lack of weapons), but if you watch it from the right point of view, it gets better. It's not about an alien invasion, really. It's about the crisis of faith of a midwest farmer, which he's finally forced to resolve in the face of an extreme peril. The peril *just happens to be* an alien attack.
Movies can be made or ruined by assuming the right or wrong perspective. I'd delve into Starship Troopers again, but I've been on that rant before (search it up).

Yeah I know, I know what the movie was trying to convey... it just didn't work for me. It was like, it didn't click, you know what I mean? Some movies work but this one was a stinker in my book. There was no moment in the movie that I actually cared about the characters or story, or anything. I just felt like I was watching a 2 hour TV commercial.

If you are going to see it, you have to see it in theatres...It would lose alot of its effect if you rented it. I really liked it, and after looking into it on the internet there are some things hidden in the movie, like at the very end in the last shot as it pans over the water...

Yeah....that is quite interesting actually...i didn't notice that.
Just watched Cloverfield on DVD, and it kind of leaves you 'meh' at the end, doesn't it? I really enjoyed it otherwise, it was really really well done. I was looking out for things like the splash in the last scene because it seemed like that kind of film but I missed it. I'll probably watch it again, but with a timetable. The monster rocks. And so does his infestation.

I'll pass, I hate that shaky camera bullshit.
How can you have a documentary/handheld film without it shaking? I really didn't notice it, it was like Blair Witch in manhattan.
Saw it recently and thought it was ok. The monster was pretty damn cool...
I just wish he got a little more cam time. Also I would have liked to find out why getting bitten by one was so terrible. Thanks to 3B I saw the thing coming into the water during the last scene so it was definitely alien and that may be why getting bit by it was so bad since she was probably infected with some kind of alien bacteria.
i think it somehow made ur insides essplode

actually according to abrams, the thing falling form the sky was a satellite, it crashes in the exact spot the monster was nesting thus awakening it.

Never watched that either
The shaky camera shit is little more than a hack gimmick IMO. Certainly some people find it entertaining, and done in the right way I could see it working, but not for an entire fucking movie but that's just me. If I wanted to see that shit I'd watch that one with the bear dude getting killed by bears, heh.

fyi, he was called the "Grizzly Man" and he (along with his girlfriend) were killed by one bear. Authorities found and killed the animal. Though, it was obviously the Grizzly Man's insane behavior and getting way too close to the bears that led to his death.
I like this line about him. :D
Treadwell claimed to have identified 21 vocalizations and body languages in grizzlies. If that's the case, says Bartlebaugh, the one he didn't recognize was the most important: "It was the one that says, Leave me alone."
