Man, it sucked not having it, anyway, took these yesterday and finally got a Flickr page... mainly because it isn't blocked at work to upload to but, the snag is, I can't actually see the photos when they've uploaded for some haggard reason (Flash Update I'm guessing). Ho-Hum.

Lancashire used to be cobbles all the way baby... not being done anymore tho, I guess too many people bitching about their suspension being trashed. :lol:

There was a street round the corner where I used to live (a couple of minutes from that alley, or 'ginnel' as they're locally known) where the tarmac had eroded away and there were cobbles underneath... at various points you could see tram tracks from over a hundred years ago.

there is a pic of my daughter in the photo albums where you can see my street in the background. our cobbles go about a good mile and a half maybe more. very old street.

we used to have an elevated train run right down the middle of the street. it was there my entire childhood but only used til i was about 10 or so. then they tore the trestle down about 20 years ago. it was kinda unique for the city but a serious pain in the ass for those of us living here. when i was young and they were still running trains the damm things would shake the whole neighborhood when they went by. then there were the pillars that drunks used to hit on a daily basis. never a dull moment with that thing for sure.

heh it's a wonder that our houses are still standing on this particular section of the street. all the other homes in both directions have been gone for years. as it is our block has only 7 houses left standing. yesterday is almost wiped out completely. :(

IMO it's fine... It breaks up the light background of the foliage and also gives something for the foreground horns to contrast against.

wow, they actually managed to keep the same dvd box design for that many releases, or did these all come out at the same time?

Some anime series I've collected changed the box design halfway through the release, and it irritates me that they don't look similar on the shelf.

They've been consistent for a long time now, although they added the '2Entertain' logo a while back when BBC Worldwide outsourced. They have reissued the first few releases with the new style covers.

This is anal... on the recent release of Frontier in Space & Planet Of The Daleks (in one package) the box cover boasted (((REVERSIBLE COVERS!!1))))... "Hmm!" I thought, "What's that all about then?"... upon checking they're exactly the same except that there's a newer BBC logo in a small purple box on the spine... the flipside doesn't have it on.

The BBC used to get slated for it's Dr Who VHS releases as the sleeves were all over the place (although they did use the same black spine and font in the main with only a small number of exceptions) but the Dr Who logo was sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal... in an anniversary year they put on a different Who logo... some six-part stories were on one tape, some were on two... :lol:

The 'Local tone mapping' image of the arch kicks ass!

That's actually quite a good idea even for 'normal' cameras, I often get annoyed in clubs trying to take photos in low-light... they're either full of 'neon spaghetti' or the flash makes them look awful.

I think I'll try taking two photos (one with flash / one without) and merging them in Photos]-[op.

I was gutted the other day; I was walking home a different route to my normal one out of the city centre and upon reaching a piece of wasteground where a building had been knocked down a few years ago I saw two HUGE Canadian Geese just chillin', eating some greenery poking up through the broken concrete... We were walking and saw this happening. the spider jumped out of the log and grabbed this dragonfly. the dragonfly was fighting him but to no avail, the spider had a good strong grip and it's fangs are in the dragonfly. It was interesting to see.

It's not one of my pics but I'll resize mine tonight and start a thread tomorrow... that tower was weird; we were walking along through the woods and spotted it up on a hillside... I scrambled up around the back and there was a little bridge made out of slate that went from the path to it's wall but no doors or windows whatsoever... I managed to get up on the top using the ridges you can see around the battlement and there was what looked like a massive stone plug in the top... musta been at least a good half-tonne stone.

I reckon it was a Demon's prison! :eek:

Jumper spiders don't build webs for catching their prey, instead they have what's called a "safety web". They put this out before they make a jump (or in this case before it walked between leaves), so that if it falls, it wont fall all the way to the ground (You can see it in the above photo).
