Think Steam, except that it's exclusively for classic games you can't buy anywhere else anymore and that you don't need to be online to play them.

You said Freespace and it reminded me of Freelancer. I loved that game! Hmm, wonder if I can find a copy somewhere.

I never played Freespace 2 but I saw it @ half priced books yesterday for $4. I almost picked it up, I may go back and get it.

It's one of my fav classic games. Though that might be due to my love of Interplay ;) its worth $4 though. and it still looks pretty good even on modern PC's :bigthumb:

Freelancer? I found one in the cheap PC game section (where the games are just in a CD jewel case, no box) at Circuit City for $13 last year.

They might still sell it or you might find it in a store, but it's on backorder on their site.

hrmmm.. I read the description in that link I gave and it's just for a Freelancer soundtrack. They did have the game there though, last year. dunno about now..

Be aware:

I bought Freelancer from Amazon, and I got the European version. Still works fine, but read the descriptions carefully to make sure you don't end up getting a version that's in some other language.

everyone signed up for the Beta right? If we all sign up we increase our chances and with a man on the inside we can get a review before it ever comes out!

Sounds interesting indeed. I already have Giants (2 copies actually) but it's a fantastic game.

The beta is supposed to open today, and the website says they're still accepting beta applications:

Hopefully the site will open up today, cause I want to try it out tonight.

I'm in the Beta right now, so everything is buy one get on free for beta users. I'm thinking about getting Fallout 1 & 2, so I'll tell you how it goes if decide to.

I'd be basically getting Fallout 1 and 2 for 5.99 since 2 would be free. I think that's a good deal!

Awesome dude. I'm still waiting on my beta key in my email, but no luck yet.

It seems they're sending out the keys at random, so you just have to get lucky. Or maybe the ones who signed up first get them. I got mine 2 days ago and I signed up the day the beta was announced.

I dunno.

If I didn't already have 2 copies each of those games, I probably would too!

I got my key this morning as well, and I've been browsing the list. Some pretty cool stuff in here. I'm tempted to get Descent 3 + Expansion for $5.99. There's also a buy 1 get one free thing going on, so I can get another $5.99 game for free.

Great minds, Gibb. I just bought MDK and Descent 3 with my bogof. (£3.41) Download speeds are acceptable too.

I think I'll hold a big party over at the parent's house (in the projector room), where I sit and play Descent 3 on the 200'' screen, and everybody else has to sit and watch.

It's not my house anymore so I don't need to worry about cleaning up the vomit.

Hehe, I actually have Descent 3! It was indeed very sickening, just like every descent which came before it.

Has anyone played Sacrifice? I'm considering getting it instead of Shogo.

These guys need to hurry up and get Battlezone and Battlezone 2. Hostile Waters screen shots reminded me of it.

Sacrifice was a huge purchase regret for me. I bought it for $50 on launch day and thought it was kind of boring, and really frustrating.

Shogo however is one of my favorite PC games of all time.

Well i will say it's worth $6. :P

I think I only got frustrated a few levels into the game when it started getting really difficult. It was a really pretty (graphically) game for the time, and a very unique gameplay mechanic.

Always wanted to try Giants though.

Just spent two hours on these. Shogo was alright, it was much harder than I expected. Sacrifice was pretty fun but it was hella hard too. I went to do this mission for the earth god and ended up losing all my souls almost immediately and then you're pretty much fucked, drakes were chasing my wizard to the ends of the earth and I couldn't kill anything without a soul. I ended up restarting and making an ass load of flyers chase drakes around while my wizard repeatedly casts 'speed up' on himself. Hoping the other powers are more varied than just 'try and manage this mass of units from a third person perspective'
