View Full Version : Quake 2 is still the best. And it runs perfectly! :)

Yep. good old Quake 2.
I love the coloured lighting FX. Unreal had better lighting FX, but Q2 still rocks.

esp the red.

anyway i have found 2 secret levels so far.
the first (right at the start of the game - the one before the communication satellite one i think)is where your mission is to "locate a powerful weapon", which turns out being a Super Shotgun. (Doom 2 had the best supershotgun, and quake 2 is in a close 2nd place)

The second one i found is the one where u have 30 seconds to grab as many powerups/ammo as u can. (u jump over a waterfall to get into this one)

Does any1 know how many secret level's there are?

and Quake 2 rocks.

there are 3 great FPSs.

Quake 2. Half-Life. Unreal.

(Doom 2 is great for multiplayer as well, but so many games are, but none as fun as doom 2. - although q2dm1 aka the edge rocked. the only level to play deathmatch in doom 2 was Level 1. Level 3 was ok as well. crossfire is the only level to play in Half-Life)

BTW this is mainly a hardware talk about how great quake 2 runs on current hardware :)
1280x960 smooth i like :D

i love playin old games, i always get games like 6 months later (xcept those i REALLY want) cause they fly on my not-so-upto-date rig :)

plus old games are always better than new...

*edit* and theyre cheaper too :D:D

Quake 2 is fun, yes... But you really should try Jedi Knight too if you're into old games. May not look as good as Q2, but the adventure is waaay better... And the Mysteries of the Sith expansion looks as good as Q2 (coloured lighting)...

there is also the sattelite level, the one with the low gravity, IIRC you can find it in the level after the big gun.

Seriously? I liked it better. The coloured lighting made all the difference in the graphics department and the levels were more interesting... Those lightsaber only levels annoyed me the first time 'round, but I replayed the game a few months ago and Blidd gave me some advice concerning light saber fighting/force powers and it worked like a charm...

If you can still find it.. the Ground Zero add on is a lot of fun for the single player campaign. It has these new spider enemies that flip down from above and scurry around on the ceiling. :)

Quake2 CTF is still, to this day, pretty hard to beat for awesome multiplayer. Definately make yourself some keybinding scripts for the grapple and get yer butt out there for some CTF action.

i don't have ground zero, but i do have the other expansion, "The Reckoning" (which i will start playing 2morrow, as i have never finished it)

i finished quake 2 today, and i found the secret level on the communications satelite.

so there are only 3 secret missions?

where can i get this jedi game from?

i have never played CTF quake 2. i should give it a go on the net some day.

jedi knight you should find anywhere, quite cheap too!! theres a cool lucasarts package that has dark forces, jedi knight and mysteries all togheter, id get it if only i could get in in english (damn bastards they dub the voices in spanish here....)

cop! i dont know, i felt jk was a lot more "starwars" than mysteries, and the saber only levels... i dont know, i found them boring :( but its true, the lightning kicked ass

I enjoy GLQuake on House of Chton, or some of the DM levels. I love the gib sounds! Plenty of action too!

I like using force pull when using the light saber. You just snag their weapons and hack them up, theres not a damn thing they can do about it. :)

Yes, that was one of the things Blidd taught me... In JK the guys just ran around after taking their weapons, but in Mysteries the bastards came right at you and started taking swings at you :) That surprised me the first time :)

we played quake 1 on the first level, the one where u choose your difficulty in single player. that was fun. so was the first level in the first episode for deathmatch.

im playing "The Reckoning" now. (quake 2 mission pack number 1)

the new weapons rock, and i am about half way thru
