Heh. I went into work (i work at gamestop for those who dont know) to pick up my check. THe boss was busy helpin a customer so i looked around the store. We just got in the dvd box set for Ranma 1/2 Second Season. It was $99.99. We get a 25% discount on stuff under 100 dollars so i would get it for 75 bucks. Anyways i just had to get it :)
I haven't watched any of it yet (cept the stuff i've seen on VHS along time ago). I'll give a pretty big review of it once i watch it all.

Oh and i rented two other anime titles
NieA Under Seven Volume 1 and
Ranma 1/2 The Way We're not (season 7 or 8 i think)

I've watched most of teh NieA dvd and some of the ranma one so far. I'll give reviews for these as well :)

Almost all my anime buys were impulsive (hehe).

Lain, The Hakkenden, Gasaraki... you name it. If no one has ever heard a word from it, I'll get it.

Now, those could be pretty good reviews. Maybe I'll begin with Serial Experiments: Lain.

I've seen some Lain, some Gasaraki
I didn't mind lain but it was very weird. I really didn't like Gasaraki tho.

That's your probelm right there.... you saw SOME Lain. You have to watch all 13 layers if youre to understand it. Imagine watching episodes 25 and 26 of evangelion as if they were the first episodes and then judging the whole show based on what you saw.

not like i started at the end
i started at the beginning and watched the first 6-7 episodes (til the end of the 2nd dvd/tape)

I really didn't like the animation style all that much either. Everything was very abstract with alot of high contrasting images. Just wasn't pleasin' to the eyes. I've heard it's a good series so i should try to watch the rest of it. I own the VHS for the first 4 episodes got i found it really cheap, 8 bucks.

I'll write my Lain review shortly. This anime is a rare gem. No sailors, no robots, no godzillas, not like anything you've seen before.

I can't imagine Lain's story in other media format but genuine Japanese Anime. Lain is a triumph, IMHO: the finest example of Japanimation as a form of art.

I made the mistake of watching Lain dubbed, now i cant watch the subtitled version (im this way with most animes except nadesico and slayers which completley suck on the dub tracks and escaflowne which I switched to watching the subtitled version after episode 4).

yeah sometimes dubbing is nice but most times it's just awful and the subtitling is the best. There are 4 series i watched dubbed. Ranma 1/2, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, and BGC 2040. All 4 of those had really high budget voice acting and it's very very good. Plus some of those were the first animes i started watchin (eva and ranma). My best friend cant stand that i watch Eva dubbed since he's a purest. i really dont like shinji's voice being a chick in the subtitled version tho heh.

Which reminds me, i watch Kenshin dubbed too... Kenshins voice subtitled is just awful (japanese woman does HIS voice)
