A lot of people go for 4x on these GF3/GF4 cards. It's a safe assumption. . .higher numbers mean better results, right? The catch is that at 4x, the cards are using an ordered grid compared to 2x using a rotated grid. Why did the V5 have such good FSAA at 4x. . .it used a rotated grid.
In other words, don't bother with 4x. . .it's a waste of bandwidth. Just go for 2x and higher resolutions combined with anisotropic filtering.
And I'm running a Ti500 on a P3 1Ghz @ 1087. I'm playing Freedom Force at 1280x1024x32 with 2x AA and 32-tap aniso, just played Jedi Knight 2 at 1280x1024 with 32-tap aniso (no AA).
john thank u. could u please give fps at those resolutions.especially if u have played mohaa

Sorry, don't have MOH:AA. But even on my P3 1Ghz, which your P4 1.8 should really outperform, games like Jedi Knight 2 and RtCW are very playable at 1280x1024x32, max detail, and 32-tap anisotropic. I'm playing Freedom Force at 1280x1024x32 with 2x AA and 64-tap aniso (just double-checked NVMax and D3D has been set to 64-tap, not 32 like I wrote earlier) and it's very smooth.
Honestly, though, if you don't have the Ti500 yet I'd just wait for the 64MB Ti4200's to come out. With AA enabled they're faster than the Ti500s.
I have a TI 500 and I have to go with John wait for the TI4200 G4s. faster and about the same price
