If you could have any arcade game for free and in prime condition, what would it be? I'm partial to Out Run, Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter, though I'd probably pick Daytona for its sheer coolness. How 'bout you lot?

Gauntlet
Galaga
Spy Hunter

Theres a few I'd have to have...
Outrun
The Simpsons
Point Blank 2
Its a toughie to choose between the original Star Wars game or the new one where you get to whup Vaders candy ass...
Actually, sod that, it'd have to be the full size Podracer!!!
I've always liked Rad Mobile, but that's looking very dated now...
Maybe a MK2 cabinet...
Or an 8 player Daytona setup :)
Or failing that, that Star Wars Racer one looked very nice indeed...

Wow!
I would have done anything to have that little table hockey thingy. Russia vs Canada with the plastic, 3D figures with the bubble dome and the twisty-rods to manoeuver yer guys around. Busted my rights twice over-playing that thing.
What a great game!
The "Crowd Booing" button was the best!

MAME can emulate many 2D games (including Out Run, thought it's definitely not the same experience as sitting down in a vibrating coin-op machine) but, unfortunately, isn't able to emulate Sega's Model 1 or Model 2 hardware yet (e.g. no Virtua games or Daytona USA). :(
Oh man, how I would love to have an arcade game... *sigh*

This one should be easy, lol, Killer Instinct, and 2nd up would be Killer Instinct 2, followed by Primal Rage, if I could not have any of those, I would like to have the original Jurassic Park arcade game (that thing rocked, it looked like an Explorer, and had a hydralic seat, was awesome as hell, me and my cousin beat it), followed by Hydro Thunder, Jurassic Park: The Lost World arcade game, Star Wars Trilogy arcade, an original Star Wars arcade game, the full-sized (did they make anything else?) StarBlazer arcade game (the biggest arcade game I think I have ever seen), or Root Beer Tapper, I would love any of those, lol,
-Drakk )))
That Star Wars game with the wireframe tie fighters and death star. The sit-down version of course.

Exactly, I was hoping I wouldn't have to copy anyone :D
That game was just plain fun. Fighting away stringing off a few 6, 7, 8 hit combos that you knew well, and then, once and a while....oh! OH! OH Shite! "ULTRA! ULTRA! ULTRA!" Echos/fades and your dood is mashing down an obscene number of hits while you kick back on a smoke break. Hehehehe, loved that game, can't find it anywhere anymore. BTW: Cheif Thunder 0wnz j00.
The other game I spent way to much money on, I cant remember the name. Someone's got to know it. The concept was like that movie "The Running Man", only alot goofier. You were a contestant on a TV game show, and you had to blast your way through the opposition from room to room with dual analog sticks. I could have paid for college with the amount of quarters stuffed down that damn game.
DEFINEATLY DAYTONA USA!!!!!
The orginal. not the second cheesy one. THe first... the only...
DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DOOOOO
DAAAAYYYYTOOONNNNNAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! :D
Only, I would want at least 4 of them linked. Perferably 8. HEHE!
Um... and I have maime. Only, I want to play smash TV, but I can't get it to see my double joystick gamepad. Pisses me off. oh well... at least simpsons works. hehe

6, 7 hit combo's?, I was doing combo's so big they would be considered Ultra's if the opponent was down to the last bit of their life, and I did Ultra's almost every time, let's just say, I pissed off more than one person, lol, no one in my neighborhood could touch me, I am the Killer Instinct master around here, lol,
BTW, the game you are thinking about is Smash TV,

Ahh, one of those, hehehe. I never sat down and tried to master it really, it was fun enough to me just seeing what I could pull off so to speak.
And thank you for Smash TV. I can't believe I forgot that.
there was an arcade game SO LONG ago that i just vaguely remember it. I remember that for it's time it was a very advanced game and i was awe just to play it. I believe it was a gun game called Freedom Force. I cant remember much about the game cept that i thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
anybody remember that game? or is that just some dream i had back in the 80's

The game itself was kind of lame, but the concept was really cool. That time traveler holographic game, does anyone remember that one?
yea i do remember that game, it was cool to look at with the big white arcard machine but the game itself sucked hehe
they've actually just recently released that game for PS2 i think and also for PC, dunno wtf would ever buy that but there it is heh
maybe if you were curious what happened after the very first part cause nobody ever wanted to spend quarters on that thing when you died in like the 2nd scene

Time Traveler, that was pretty awesome, used a parabolic mirror, and a laserdisc player, they only made one other game like that, Holosseum, a fighting game, I would love to have a cabinet, and use the parabolic mirror to reflect things like movies and TV shows, they would look holographic, lol,

Oh man, you start talking about cool tech.....when I was in Hawaii (in erm....summer of 94) they had an arcade with a VR game. Concievebly up to four human players although this one had two the others filled with computer players. It was a robot arena type game with a first person view. Very very cool, only 5 bucks a pop to play. Ouch.
One more I thought of that ruled: G-Loc. It was never as famous as Afterburner, but it was sooooo much cooler. I saw a unit once that was a working gyro. The game barrel rolls, you barrel role. Fun :D

YUP YUP!!!
I never played it in the arcade, but I played KI gold on N64. I would pull 30, 40 hit combos all the time. My brothers got pissed and stoped playing with me. LOL! Oh well.

Interesting bit of trivia, do you know what Area 51 used?, it was a modified Atari Jaguar, it had a slightly higher CPU speed, and more memory, but besides that, it was literally an Atari Jaguar powering it,

Space Ace and Dragon's Lair were pretty cool, too. Zero replayability factor though (unless you want to see every way you can do something wrong).

Ah, I used to have a nephew (who was about ten years older, mind you) who was a great fan of Don Bluth and therefore of the Dragon's Lair and Space Ace games too. He broke his neck and died though - that really devastated me at the time. :(
But anyway. I still have the PC version of Space Ace on CD-ROM, I really should try that again some time. :)

I remember seeing a picture of a Japanese arcade game in EGM once. It was a female butt, and you had a hand apparatus that would grab the henie. Apparently the screen displayed facial expressions of the person you were grabbing, and you got a score based on how well you did. LOL
Ambience, I believe you without even seeing evidence... Those Japanese are just that crazy :)

-sorry man no can do! Got a killer deal...bought it from a bowling alley in whoopieshit middle of nowhere for $172.42. Beautifull condition...half the time release characters aren't even opened up yet and the joysticks and buttons still have that new game feel.
Owner wanted to put a dartless dartboard in its place (it not all about the saftey darts)... Guess there's no accounting for good taste.
Still want a bloodstorm machine and maybe a samurai showdown 2 cabinet. And then there's the holy grail...a decent shape Killer Instinct 1 machine. Buddy of mine bought a DOOM 2 cabinet like the one in Gross point blank...that was money well spent :P
