So... questions!!!!

I got a 64M oem 8500, has Hynyx memory, 3.6ns

Where can i see the clock speed of this thing? in display properties it shows very general data...

The DVD player... highest audio option is dolby prologic... aint there a newer version?? with 5.1??????

I got the 11mb catalysts, only installed drivers :confused: werent they supposed to have some cool programs too? like new multimedia stuff and so on?

Is this card touchy when it comes to upgrading drivers? (like the kyro?) or is it ok to just install drivers over drivers, without reinstalling windows every time?

edit: one more.... supposedly in the beggining XP and/or 2K performance was sucky, is that fixed in newer versions?

This is the info i have, bios is higher than whwt Randell told me in the other thread, still, i have no clue which card it is, or whats the clock status...

3.6ns is excellent (rated for up to 550mhz -2 x 275mhz if my memory serves me well).

Boy you better learn how to make clean driver installs otherwise your problems will continue to appear. Drivers over drivers without uninstalling the older version was never a good idea with any card out there. Since I got the GF4Ti I switched it twice in the same OS with the K2 and never had a problem. No witchcraft or complicated NASA formulas involved.

Stick a couple of crosses on your comp, hang some garlic over your neck and chant some mantra crap while performing your software ventures, only fighting superstition can help in your case LOL :D

OMAC... yup, vga dvi and tv out, it costed...... A LOT!!! but bear in mind prices here dont exist compared to yours... I sold my Kyro2 for 90 us bucks, paid 199 for this one...

prices more or less were 250 for a ati64 boxed, 200 for a FIC 64 boxed, 300 for a joytech 128 boxed, and 350 for a boxed 8500LE 128...

so all in all, im happy :P

Of course I can. I´ve installed over 30 K2´s in my buddy´s store for the past year and to that in systems that had the weirdest assembly of hardware.

Hopefully the guy you sold it to, will not knock it over your head some time soon. I´m not so sure if the said card was 100% "ok".

Anyhow congrats on your upgrade, you won´t regret it. Did you get it for 200$ over there? I thought prices were insanely high. Ordered it from abroad?

Can also use Powerstrip. Won't do as many tweaks, but great for basic stuff and over clocking.

You wanted a vga at a decent price. Why you should have asked for credentials of the reseller is beyond me. Worst case they´ll arrest you too for buying smuggled goods and you´ll play q3a with him in the same cell :D

3.6ns means: 1000 / 3.6 x 2 = 555.5MHz.

rage3d tweak will tell you the clock speed in the overclocking tab. As I said earlier, I'm not up to date on the bios numbering, all I know is 7.004 is a retail bios. Again the best advice would come from www.rage3d.com

Sounds very simliar to my card. Don't flash the bios without checking stock speed and what you can get it to with normal overclocking. You may be lucky and have an OEM card which has a lower stock speed but ok voltage so it overclocks nicely as Shark has experienced.

Well..... i wanna jump off a window, its a 230/230...

gonna try and fiddle some with normal OC, and try to read as much as i can find about these ones and the bios...


So far, the lil ive tested, its awesome... 2d quality is sweet, the colors are great, sharpness is great too, 1600x1200 is really crisp... tha Kyro was really good, i noticed that when i put back the tnt2, but now... man! the colors thing can be described as looking at a normal tv, and then looking at a sony... sweet!

DVD quality is pretty good too, i somewhat expected a lil more, but its far better than my prev. reference, the kyro. Still not as good as the DVD decoder card, but close enough to take it out my main box.

I couldnt get TV out to work, not sure why, so i cant comment.

I havent tried anything 3D yet, just a quick pass of JK2, and all on default settings... looks extremely sweet & quite fast with very high textures... so theres a lot of room for fiddlin with lower textures and AA, aniso and the lot... lol, im gonna have fun with this one...


SO, today ill finally say goodbye to 98se, im gonna give XP a shot, and if i dont like it ill settle in 2K, only thing holding me back now was the dvd card, and that ones gone. Maybe the tvout thing is a drivers thing and itd be ok once i reformat, who knows...

well the memory can take at least 275 if its got enough voltage. The core may be your limiter then. Still230/230 ouch.

well i think the 230's or LELE are the same as the regular LE's... maybe all it needs is a bios update and you could hit 250+...

OH man. 230/230 is bad, not too bad tho but it's bad. Try to get the memory up atleast, it makes a huge difference.

Nope, not yet, i formatted last night and did a nice XP install, checking that out, today ill install some games, see how it works out, then ill do some testing...
