Armitage: Dual-Matrix Special Edition

Story: 9/10

A riot breaks out at an anti-matter facility on Earth and is destroyed by Colonel Strings and his troops, suppressing evidence of illegal research and development of Third types. Before the facility was destroyed, a Third sends her memory of that event to Naomi Armitage on Mars. Armitage then goes to Earth to find out what happend and who was behind all of it. She finds out that Demitrio Mardini was the one behind it all. He wants to know how Armitage is able to give birth to a human child so he duplicate the process for his evil plans. He wants to make a slave race of mindless humans that will do labor without complaining, soldiers who are not affraid to die and so on. Having no luck capturing Armitage, he kidnaps Ross Sylibus' & Armitage's daughter (Yoko). He then blackmales Ross to make a no vote on a bill that would allow robots to have rights. Not getting his (Ross) daughter back as promised after the ordeal, he and Armitage set off to get their daughter back.

Animation: 9/10

This movie has some of the best animation I have ever seen. It also has 3-D computer generated stuff in it.

Sound/Music: 9/10

The sound an music are just awesome. The sound effects are clear. Both English and Japanese language tracks are crystal clear. The music fits quite well with the movie, soft for emotional stuff and hardcore for action. The soundtrack has orchestral, techno & industrial metal (mixing of techno & metal) types of music.

Features: 10/10

English Dolby Digital 5.1, English Dolby Surround, Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1, English Subtitles & sceen access

Extras: 10/10

Armitage Special Collectors' 16 Page Charachter Guide, Assembling Armitage, character designs, 5.1 music player (has 3 full tracks from Armitage: Dual-Matrix soundtrack; Armitage Theme, Armitage Theme - Orchestral & Red Planet), Armitage: Dual-Matrix teaser trailer, & Pioneer previews (Vandread, Gate Keepers, Hellsing & The Soul Taker)

Overall: 9/10

Awesome movie! Go buy/rent it NOW!!!!! If you liked Armitage III: Poly-Matrix, you will like Dual-Matrix just as well or better.

Rating: 16 and up. This movie does contain violence, mild language and has some nudity (not hentai stuff, you perv).

Region: 1 & 4

Note: I also bought the Armitage: Dual-Matrix/ Armitage III: Poly-Matrix soundtrack. It is a double CD set for the price of one CD. I like both soundtracks very well.

I got the regular Special Edition. I did not get the one that had Poly-Matrix because I already have it. I really wanted the Lunchbox Limited Edition but I didn't want to wait or pay 50 some odd dollars at Digital Eyes.

Maybe I can buy just the lunchbox w/o all the extra stuff, but I wasn't gonna pay that amount for it.

I didn't have Poly-Matrix on DVD yet. I have it on VHS and I have 3 or the original 4 Armitage Tapes that came out before they chopped it up and made Poly-Matrix. I'd still like to find that 4th tape and complete the set of Subbed Uncut Armitage, but that's gonna be hard to do.

If I get both Poly-Matrix and Dual-Matrix, will I get the whole story? I hate it when I buy some DVD and it's only the third of a series.

Armitage III: Poly-Matrix is the first movie. The III is part of the title because she is a third type robot, hence the name Armitage III (The Third).

I would like to have the original Armitage III 4-parter, but I would rather them remaster the thing and put it on DVD. VHS = NASTY!!!!!

Forgot to mention that my favorite trailers on the Armitage: Dual-Matrix Special Edition DVD were. My favorite is Hellsing & my second favorite is Vandread. I preordered Hellsing #1: Impure Souls (DVD And Slipcase Box) (http://digitaleyes.net/Details.cfm?info=PIO11812DVD) about a month ago on Digital Eyes, It does not come out until July 23.

Err... lets put it this way:
In order to see the whole story, do I have to see the 4-part VHS series, and both movies? Or are the two movies enough?

The two movies are enough. The Poly-Matrix movie is pretty much the same as the 4 part series.

Hey []Vermillion[]SLC[], does the Poly-Matrix that comes in the Dual-Matrix Special Edition/Poly-Matrix set have Japanese w/ English subtitles? The one I have does not have Japanese w/ English subtitles. It has the English dub, English Dub w/ Japanese subtitles & English dub w/ English Closed Captioning.

i was lookin at these dvds in gamestop. Seems the one with the lunchbox only has one dvd with it and the figurine. The dual matrix dvd set has the two dvds. I really dont know anything about the anime or if it's any good but i would get the dual matrix one if i got anything. I got so much anime to watch right now tho. I've just watched 10 kenshin episodes in a row and i still have like 12 inuyasha episodes to watch, 5 more kenshin, 4 BGC 2040, 16 evangelion (i started watching through it again with subtitles instead of dubbing), and the entire Blue seed collection. (the Blue Seed perfect collection was 39.99 at best buy and i couldnt resist).

I forgot another thing in my review. If you wait till the end of the credits, there is another ending. It is not a alternate ending. It has something to do with Mouse. That is all I am telling you about it.

There are 4 different Dual-Matrix's

Movie only edition has no special features.

Special edition (with everything I listed in my review).

Armitage: Dual-Matrix/ Armitage III: Poly-Matrix has both movies in it. Dual-Matrix is Special Edition.

The limited edition lunchbox has the special edition dvd (with everything I listed in my review), McFarlane's Limited Edition Variant Painted Armitage figure.

Yo Fuzz,

The Poly-Matrix DOES NOT have Jap Dialogue w/ English Subs. Apparently the only way to get it is to get all 4 VHS tapes separately in Subbed format. I really wish they would've put the Japanese Dialogue on there, but I'm not surprised since it's Pioneer. They've slacked heavily on their Anime production unlike when they first got into it like 4-5 years ago.

Thanks Verm. I figured it would not have Japanese dialog w/ English subtitles, but I was hoping there might be a small chance.
