This will not be a very long or in-depth review since I do not want to spoil it for you, but I will list some good and bad points, and some of my thoughts, and just because the bad points are longer than the good points does not mean the bad outweighed the good, the good was just easier to give in less words, lol,
Good points,
DRAGONS!, dragon movies are few and far between, I would rather them be the good guys, but when you rarely see them, any is good,
Very good special effects and CGI, a definite eye-candy movie,
Neat mix of Medieval/Modern technology,
Bad points,
Despite what you see on the trailers and poster, there are only really 3 dragons featured, one scene shows hundreds flying for a moment, but that's it, and no real extended up-close shots until the end, and that is still pretty brief, (Jurassic Park this isn't),
The first little excursion to London was not enuf, even tho they went back at the end, I wish they had shown more locations, I know the story concentrated on the Castle and the survivors there, but I wish they had moved around a little more,
there are a few more bad points in my opinion, but they would really ruin it for you, (basically revolves around who survives and who does not),
I highly recommend it for a good Summer action/eye-candy movie, I will definitely be picking the DVD up day one, and I already have the theatrical (double-sided) movie poster I got off eBay a week or so ago, lol,
BTW, here is a serious slip-up for you, but it also contains a spoiler, so do not read below this if you do not want a spoiler,
when Quinn pulls the egg out of the dead female Dragon, you can clearly see a baby Dragon inside it, but earlier it is said they reproduce like fish, the female lays the eggs, and the male comes along later and fertilizes them, so the egg was unfertilized, but it still had an embryo growing in it?, major screw-up, I already submitted this to a slip-up site,

I like the premise behind the film, but just one thing they said in the trailer has put me off the entire movie, and also something that you mentioned in your review Drakk. In the trailer they state that dragons are older than the Dinosaurs, my impression of dragons from legend and too much D&D :) are that yes they are ancient creatures of extreme intelligence, but in no way are they related to Dinosaurs. Lets say for arguments sake that they are related to dinosaurs, they are extemely advanced and whould most likely be one of the last of the dinosaur species. This brings me to what Drakk said about the breeding, like fish ??? No way would such an advance creature from earth that fits into our evolutionary system breed in that manner.
I wish that they would have focused more on legend and the mystical/magical origins of Dragons rather than making some badly thought out evolutionary reason for their existance, that then spoils the whole idea behind what a dragon is to legend.
I assume that in the movie that they are just shown as intelligent animals much like the raptors in Jurassic Park, not with full blown language etc.

This will spoil a little bit of the movie for you, but will totally answer your ?'s, any other reading who do not want spoilers, SKIP THIS POST!,
The Dragons are not related to Dinosaurs, in fact, in the beginning it is said they caused the extinction of the Dinosaurs, ("they burned the Dinosaurs"), their ash blocked the sun and caused the Ice Age, and when they killed off nearly every living creature, and thus their food source gone, they went underground to sleep and "await the time when the Earth would renew itself", direct quote, (they also eat ash, seriously, weird),
also, the Dragons in this movie are NON-magical, their fire is explained as being a chemical reaction from two chemicals stored in two sacs in their mouths that combine to form a type of Napalm (look at the poster closely and you will see this), Denton says they are not magical, and can be brought down like a normal animal, this is good for them to realistically explain the dragons, but it does change what a dragon is according to lore, but luckily this is just one movie and one plot and not the definitive Dragon information movie, lol,
Quinn, the main character, does a voice over about 10 minutes in or so while he is writing in a Diary or Journal, he says how ancient man had made them into myths, yet they were real, that they found out a little too late about them,
one more thing, they are intelligent (one of them fries a Jeep/truck to keep some people from escaping), but later one of the characters says "I don't think the bastard can count", they are intelligent, but no where near as intelligent as a Dragon from lore, think big-ass, mean carnivore and that is about it, I would maybe give them a slight edge over a Velociraptor from Jurassic Park, maybe,
should you see this movie?, that is up to you, if you want to see a movie about Dragons ala D&D and myth, then skip it, if you want to see a movie that has dragons period, reguardless of their incarntation, check it out, because you know how few Dragon movies are made, lol,

Do they also explain how it is possible that dragons can remain airborne?

They do not explain that, guess they rely on you assuming it is their big-ass wings, lol,

Not big-ass enough for their weight, methinks. There's a reason crocodiles don't fly.
Thanks, i'll still go see it when it hits our shores. Definately worth it just to see the Dragons in motion :)

Not really, the only real anti-American sentiment is when Denton (American) pops up, Quinn says "Only thing worse than a Dragon, an American", lol,
