Star Trek: Nemesis Gets the Go Signal

from the now-beam-down-my-pants dept.
PatJensen writes "Star Trek TNG: Nemesis, the 10th Star Trek movie gets the green light from Paramount today. It will be directed by Stuart Baird, who did Executive Decision, US Marshals and Tomb Raider. Looks to be pretty action packed. Digital Domain (LOTR, Titanic) will be doing the SFX. The movie seems to be based around Romulan conflict with the Federation. " Can't be as bad as Insurrection. At least, I hope not. BTW the first movie is out on DVD now and they did a pretty good job with the re-release.

I heard a while ago that Data buys the bin in the next (e.g. this) Star Trek movie. It's unbelievable - the ONLY character that actually had something going for him (namely that he was pretty much the only interesting, non-flat character around) they're going to kill. Ah well, what do I care...

I sure wish Diana Troy would show us her money makers.
Noooo data can't die.
Get rid of Geordy instead

I think I remember reading a chat with Brent Spiner a while back, where he said if they did another Star Trek movie, he would want them to kill Data off, because he was tired of doing the role, the poor guy has been thru alot, but he really does not care for Star Trek any more, by the way he sounds,
personally, even tho I am a Trekkie, I still have never seen Insurrection, it does get tiring having movie after movie that does not seem worth much, as far as the storyline goes, Generations was ok, but had some serious, and I mean SERIOUS plot-holes, First Contact was also ok, but still have yet to see Insurrection,

Well, I can't really blame him - you can only take Star Trek (or any movie series) so far, heh.
I've seen Insurrection, and it's amusing if rather dumb.
I had heard the same rumour, but basically it may be Data or Picard or both that dies. Whichever, this will be the last next gen film :(

Is it just me or do the Star Trek movies of late feel more like 2 hour episodes and less like motion pictures? I think they should cast a couple of big stars to play villains in them. It would give them more of an action movie feel. Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Borg would be cool. :)

Personally I quite liked Insurrection, seeing it at the cinema was definately better than the small screen.
First Contact was better tho.
The only good Star Trek is the original.
Iz you on crack!!!
The first movie is so damn boring!!!
Wrath Of Khan rules!!!
I'm looking forward to "Star Trek: Nemesis"
I'm sure it will be much better than Insurrection, that was the worst Star Trek movie ever!
Here's who SHOULD go:
#1) Wesley Crusher (DIE YOU BITCH, DIE!)
2) Doctor Crusher
3) Commander Riker
4) Geordi La Forge
5) Can't think
Those characters are just filler and they wouldn't be missed - kill them all!

Riker and La Forge?, awww, come on man, those are two of my favorite characters, lol, tho I much prefered La Forge with his VISOR over the replacement eyes, (lol, pop quiz, can you tell me what VISOR stands for?, lol),

Beverly Crusher is pretty hot for an older lady. She could stay if she gave Worf a blow job. :)
Seems like you guys are more looking forward to Star Trek: The Next Penetration than anything else...

Funny you should mention, pal.
Wesley was going to be the central character in the now-scrapped film Star Trek: Coming Out.
Oh, well...
In the closet he shall remain!!

PS. God Bless and Long Live Star Trek TNG -- the most hopeful and inspiring TV series ever created.
I heard from Patrick Stewart that its Picard that Dies.
Cap'n goes down with the ship I guess.

Hmm, he should get sucked into the Nexus in order to appear in the next star trek movie 10 years from now.

Yo Ambiance! Are you talking about Deanna Troi's money-makers in the front or in the back cause she got 'em on both sides!! Also just got this news off of Entertainment Tonight tonight about the new Star Trek movie. First of all, nobody dies. Not Picard, not Data nobody! Also Riker and Troi get married and Data sings at the wedding. Very interesting first looks if I do say so myself. Be on the lookout for Nemesis in 2003 it oughta be a great one. Out!
