If you like vampire anime, like Vampire Hunter D, you will probably like it. You may want to go to some of those sites that I posted in the Here are some good Hellsing links thread. I've always wanted to check out TWHEs but i've never found it for rent (except PA which charges 5 dollars for 3 days). I really love the Angel Blue song they play in the trailers for it. Is it worth checkin out? It looked kind of like Gestalt which i really liked.

I've watched the first few eps. and it's pretty funny. Plus it's not too bad they put 6 eps. per DVD which makes it nice. You should definitely rent it first before buying to see if it's your style though.

from the trailers it looks very very zany. Almost like Excel Saga only not so crazy. I like slapstick humor to an extent but it gets annoying quickly. I'll definately consider renting it tho. I also held off renting it cause it's called "Elf Stripping for Fun and Profit" :D

It is nothing like Vampire Hunter D. I meant that if you like vampire movies/anime/manga, you will like this.

Here is a short review of what I have seen of this series. It is a comical series about 4 people from Japan that get trapped in a fantasy world filled with elves. In this world, they have to go around stripping elves in order to get fragments of a spell to send them home. If you like comedy, then this is the series for you. As Vermillion would say, I would recommend you to rent the video/DVD before buying it.

I ordered the Escaflowne: Limited Edition Perfect Version Box Set on Thursday and it was shipped on Friday. I should have it by Monday or Tuesday.

coolness. My Escaflowne box set is waiting for me at work. Right now the discount for stuff over 100 dollars is 10% but it's changing to 20% in 2 weeks or less. Gonna wait til the discount changes and get the box set for 125 bucks or so. Right now i'm trying to find the Ranma 1/2 first season DVD set. I need to get it before the discount changes cause it's 25% for stuff Under 100 dollars and it's changing to 20%.

Btw like the avatar fuzzman. Quite shockin it is :)

Well i bought the non special version of the Escaflowne movie. I really want the Limited edition 3 disc version but i dont want to play an extra 20 dollars for it (twice the price). Plus like you, i had the escaflowne movie along time ago on divx. I have not seen the escaflowne series tho so i'm lookin forward to my box set in a week or so.

The Escaflowne Limited Edition movie (3 disc set) is very cool but i just didnt wanna spend an extra 20 bucks for it. It has really cool dvd cases inside as well as a nifty History of Escaflowne booklet.

I got through watching the series not to long ago. It is one of the best series I have ever seen. The animation may not be as good as current anime or the Escaflowne movie, but it is still an awesome anime.

I can't remember when Escaflowne was originally released in Japan. I do remember seeing pics of it in a japanese import magazine in 1997 and saying "OMG, I HAVE to see that!!"

Of course Escaflowne didn't get released over here until like 1999 or 2000 somewhere, so if you think of it bein' animated in 1997, then that's probably about right for good animation.

just bought Ranma 1/2 1st season and Steel Angel Kurumi vol 2. today. That basically means i'm out of money and i have to wait til my next paycheck to get escaflowne. Least i'm done with Ranma 1/2 now. I think Season 5 is the one where Ranma's voice actor changes but i think i'll just stop with the first 3 seasonsfor my collection.

Bought Blood: The Last Vampire a few days ago on impulse. I was getting a few (cheap, the best kind) DVDs anyway, saw it and it looked intruiging. Very pleasantly surprised indeed, even though it was pretty damn short. Decidedly uncharacteristic (but no less impressive) art, functional and "convincing" dialogue (very short on rhetoric, fortunately enough), no weird and pretentious existantialism/fake science, excellent cinematrographic tricks, a little gory but not gratuitously so, using both English and Japanese (depending on the characters) for realism etc... Perhaps a bit expensive concerning the length of the film, but I do feel it was worth it.

blood certainly seems to be the first episode in a series but unfortunately it's not. I dont know if there is more blood in japan but i have not heard of anymore being released over here.

Nah, it's a standalone movie - apparently it was mostly a showcase for new animation techniques. However, I do really like it, it didn't bore me or make me slap my head because of stupid dialogue/symbolism, it looks great and it's got some fine action sequences. I loved Saya's response to the nurse's asking her why she's given her the gun, by the way.

I first watched Vandread #1: Enemy Engaged in Japanese w/ English subtitles. I watched the dubbed version this morning and I noticed a few well known dub actors voices.

Here are he ones I have noticed


- Julie Maddalena (Sakuya Kumashiro from Tenchi in Tokyo) as Dita Liebely

- Wendee Lee (Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop) as Buzam A. Calessa (BC)

- David Lucas (Spike Spigel from Cowboy Bebop) as Duero McFile


I only put the most well-known series for the dub actors. I am not going to list every series they have been in.

as much as i want the escaflowne box set, i've decided to hold off on it. It would be about 135 bucks with my emp discount. That's not a bad deal but i've decided i'd rather get a gamecube than escaflowne. the GC would only be 100 dollars and i'd probably get more use outta it then one anime series heh. So until i get some mega bucks i wont be getting escaflowne.

Wendee Lee is a pretty versitile voice actor. She's just awesome in Cowboy Bebop and i believe she does quite a few other voices for big name anime series as well. THere is an interview with her on the 4th Love Hina DVD and she's just ungodly annoying. It shows little clips of her doing Kaolla Su's voice that would peel the enamel from your teeth. Needless to say i can only watch love hina subtitled. Not just cause of Kaolla but the other voices are rather bad too (Keitaro is just god awful on the dubbing).

I stopped playing consol games because there are not that many good games out there for any of the new systems, especially the GC. I wanted to buy a GC a while back, but decided not to. The only games that look good to me on the GC are Resident Evil & Eternal Darkness.

i've been quite low on funds recently so i havent gotten much of anything. I got a free copy of the first DVD of Arjuna tho. Special promo one but it's the full thing of the first DVD. I'll give a full review of it with some screenshots in a little while. I watched the first episode with a friend who insisted on watching it dubbed. I gotta go back and watch it subtitled to see if it's much better.

So, I take it you are able to play that Love Hina game on your GBA. I thought you had to have a japanese GBA system.

according to everybody i've asked, GBA games are the exact same everywhere. Same format, etc. And all the ebay auctions say that the game will work on a US GBA. Cant always trust what those auctions say but everyone i've seen so far says that.

Oh and Sylver, the GBA love hina game is pretty awesome :) Yes it is in japanese but you can sort of cheat your way through it by memorizing what you said at certain points in the game and doing those certain choices in order from the last save point. Basically the point of the game is to get 8 heart points with one of the girls at the Hinata Inn. If you say the wrong thing (sometimes you cant say the right thing, heh) you will get smacked by one of the girls and lose 1 hit point (you start off with 5 or so HP but you get 1 or 2 more after leveling up).

First time i played through the game i somehow got Shinobu up to 5 heart points and everybody else was really low, like 1 or 2 hearts. Naru hated me as well as the other girls. Then i played through it again using my save game trick and i was able to solve the game with Naru. The game apparently has multiple endings and probably more than one for each char. I havent played the game too much cause i absolutely hate the GBA, but i really do like the game. I'll be playin it alot more once the Gamecube GBA player comes out.

I cancelled that order a few days ago because I found it a lot cheaper at Digital Eyes. I originally ordered it from Anime Nation because they were one of the few anime places that I visit that had it. I am getting it for $29.97 + shipping ($2.90 for first disc) - $12 in Frequent Buyers Points. I should get it for about $20.87 or so. If I would have kept that order from Anime Nation, it would have cost me about $40.

wow that's quite a stash you got from Ushicon. I didnt end up going cause i was pretty damn sick last friday when i was planning on driving down to Austin. Was Ushicon sort of perverted this year like the last time? Last time there were guys at booths selling their "furry" hentai stuff all over the place. Plus there was lots of hentai tapes/dvds for sale in the small dealer room. It was their very first con so i'm thinking maybe this year would have been better.

Well Verm and I only went to the dealer room on Friday . We did not stay the whole time. There was not much going on, and they did not have any new anime that they were showing. From what I saw in the calendar they provided us, they did have the hentai fest, DDR, and a Lan Party as well as some showings of anime that we have already seen or have bought.

It was too bad that you were sick Gibb, but you did not miss anything anyway. I hope you are feeling better now.

Just bought Love Hina Spring Movie, Steel Angel Kurumi 5 "Encore", the collectors box for Hand Maid May, Mahoromatic Vol1 and Ai Yori Aoshi vol 1.

Soon as i find a good condition Chobots vol1 with collectors box, i'll get that. The one at my store is beat up to hell from the shipment and all the other ones i've seen are equally messed up. no point in getting a collectors box if it has a big razor blade slash across the backside of it, or big black blotches from getting scrapped across something before it was shrink wrapped.

one with the box and first dvd only. Dont need to pay any extra 5 bucks for stationary. I'm not sure where the damage occured to the boxes but it's never at my store. My boss who normally opens all the boxes of new shipments is a big otaku as well (i sort of made him into one). He bought one of the Chobits box sets that wasnt too badly damage, had a small cut on the back).

Geez a lot of collections here without Anime and Ninja Scroll, what were you guys thinking? :D
i finally got Ninja Scroll hehe. In fact i got the 10th Aniversery super special collectors one. It's a dual sided disc with 4by3 on one side and 16 by 9 on the other. I think it's got alot of extras too, but i havent gotten a chance to watch it. I wanna watch it in my media room on the HDTV with the 5.1 surround speakers, but i wanna make sure my rents dont walk in and see the rape scene lol. I'd be hard to explain to em that it's integral to the plot.. lol
