What about the Civilization games?? Dont they qualify as strategy?? If they do, they are the best, by far..

And the best new strategy game in the year 2001... Advance Wars for the Game Boy Advance.
hey shorty. is that really any good? Or are you making a joke? From the look of it it seemed pretty cheesy. Now... I like cheese and all, don't get me wrong, but that was REALLY cheesy!

No joke. I play it daily, and it's been over a month since I started. It is turn based, so it's really cool to be able to play with friends during school or work. Just pass it around when you're done your turn. I recommend it for anyone who likes turn based games a lot, and surely for anyone who already has Game Boy Advance. At least get an emulator to try it.
I have a lot of fun, even though I never win against friends. The single player campaigns are cool, and suprisingly tough in the harder difficulties, unlike most games now. There are different characters with different strengths and weaknesses. (I'm in the process of trying to win the character named "Eagle" since I love air attacks, you win them by beating the difficulties) The defense ratings of your units change with wherever they're placed (Eg: Mountain higher, forest high, open field lowest...). The units have different attack ratings and distances. A VERY deep game for a handheld system.
I love it :)
I was just thinking about something you mentioned the other day. how easy single player games have gotten lately. It seems that mutiplayer games are the only things worth playing now because they are the only place to get a challenge. Go back and play some of the old Nintendo, and SNES games. Them compare how hard they are to how easy todays games are. Sad, truly sad.

I agree. The way to beat a game now is so linear. Used to require thinking.
