Since i havent watched the entire series, i cant give a full review yet. Entire thing appears to be 25 TV episodes long, plus 4 OAV episodes. I've watched the first 8 episodes so far.
The story is very complex. Mireille is a professional assassin with a sordid past. She runs across a girl named Kirika who does not know who she is, or how she got to where she is now. The two girls go on missions in hopes of finding out their true purposes in life. For as much as i've seen so far, the series is quite a bit like Cowboy Bebop mixed with Serial Experiments Lain.
The animation is incredible. The character designs and cinematography are a sight to behold. The only reason i decided to buy this series was because i liked the art. I had not seen a single episode or heard anything about the series before i ordered it on ebay (HK DVD set).
Music is played very frequently throughout the series and is quite awesome :) The opening theme song doesnt really fit my tastes but i like the in series music and the ending theme an awful lot.
The quality of the HK set is quite good. The sound is in Dolby Digital and sounds really good. The image transfer is in 16 by 9 ratio. That means on regular TV's it'll have black bars on the top and bottom. I have an HDTV at home, which is 16 by 9, so this series looks absolutely amazing :) The image quality is quite good as well. There are a few typos in the subtitles and they/re sometimes delayed a bit but they're overall decent. The dvd cases are really cool for this set, and are very well made, 5 dvds in all.
