Is it worth the money or should I wait? A friend of mine totally fell in love w/it. says the "new" half life. I played the demo and wasnt that blown away by it. if you have it give some recommendations. thanks

I found it rather average to be honest.

The game feels *very* Half-Life/ish. It has the same pace as Half-Life, the same sort of "feel" I guess you could give it.

Now that's not a bad thing, the Geo-Mod tech is a refreshing change of pace. Sure there's the occasional bug and it is rather limiting but overall it's a pretty good game. The enemy animations could use some work though IMHO because they are stealing that horrible trait that made Deus Ex enemies look so awkward.

I'd give it a 7/10

It's a really good game if you like precision style shooting in an FPS. It has a great military value, and the game is pretty challenging on harder settings. I haven't tried multi-player, but the geomod technology is hardly ever used in the single player game, except for a few forced instances.

I say go for it. The game has great replay value, the weapons are pretty cool, the voice acting sucks....but then again doesn't it always?

I'm kinda debating getting it myself...$39.99

I played the demos, both single (sucked) and Multiplayer (good). Weapons are very good, precise and powerful. I know I'll get it, only a matter of $$$

I finally gave in and bought it a couple days ago. Fear's right, it feels VERY much like HL, even "borrowing" a few things from it. Not big things; they can't be accused of ripping it off by any stretch, but certain small things will take you back to Black Mesa, so to speak The weapons I found to be quite good, although there were some I almost never used, such as those satchel charge/remote mine thingys.

The vehicles are fun to use, and generally well done, but one thing I found was when driving along, your vehicle, be it APC, or ATV would occasionally jerk and jolt around as if were going over some huge bumps in the road, although the road seems totally flat. I dislike the Deus Ex-style sidestepping the enemies use, it gets annoying after a while, especially when trying to use single-shot weapons. Even enemies from wayyyy far away, who are supposed to be sniping you, are sidestepping like mad.

Level design is well done for the most part, providing challenge, but not so much that you'll wander around for hours wondering where to go or what to do. I should also mention graphics are great, and geo-mod rocks, although it's rarely used in single player, other than for cosmetic value

Final Score: 8/10
