Well I figured I might as well have the first "serious" post on here...

So, who's playing it and what do you think? I just got it a couple of days ago, and it's scary as hell. I admit I had to put the lights back on within the first hour of play ;)

Never heard of it eh? It's not been out for long. Anyway, it's way scarier then AvP; to quote PC Gamer "It will have the hairs on the back of your neck ripping themsleves out and running for cover". It's one of those games I can propose without a second thought. Just buy it you will like it guaranteed.
Oh and remember to wear a diper when playing it, otherwise ........errrrrrrr *ahem* well you know what I mean :D

Hey you peeps that have the game, did you find the easter eggs?
I'll put a few down here (that I found)

WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD

Picture Show:
Hit tab and type "start Manor_EntranceHall_FromKitch" to go directly to the map. Now, once it loads, go to the 3 pictures on your left. Jump up and try to touch the tops of the two outer pictures, starting with the leftmost one. If done correctly, you should hear a click. Now stand back and watch the show!

One other one I found:

Begin a new game and enter the house. After you get the tour, go to the end of the hall to the metal doors where the health pack is. Take out your revolver and shoot the two rectangular designs at the top corners of the wooden doorframe. The door should open up and you can go into some sort of shooting gallery where you shoot at bats. It's really hard, and if fail to hit enough bats then it's game over and you can't reacess the room without starting a new game. I can't get past level 1 in the shooting gallery :)

Very scary.Great use of sound effects to amplify horror.I had only a few minor quibbles with the game.I found it a little tricky to switch weapons when facing the "bosses" at the end of each level.Very clever how they combined the dual use of weapons though.

Also,the porting of the game to playstation made the developers have too many areas that had to be "loaded".And of course the minor annoyance of the way the game reloads when you get killed before you can load a saved game.

I would of enjoyed more exploration and problem solving.The graphics were to me a bit uneven.While generally excellent and at times even exquisite and awe inspiring some of the outdoor landscapes were quite frankly crap.The skybox was usually OK and sometimes even good but not what I was hoping for with the Unreal engine.

Overall one of the best games I've ever played.Very smooth.Very scary and YAY looks like we may see a sequel.

I had to start using the cheats (health and manna) about a third of the way through.One piece of advice.Save often!Cheers!

I don't usually cheat until I've beaten a game, but I since I'm not done it yet then I'm going to try to finish it without cheats! It is hard though, especially at the start with revolver ammo being so limited and no other spells/weapons :eek:

LOL,I forgot to mention I'm not that great at FPS cames.Toggling weapons,strafing and special keys have resulted in a few games going to the kids across the street far earlier then intended.

Strangely enough though,while I don't play online I can hold my own against bots at "Adept" and sometimes "Masterfull" in UT.

In Undying I was losing too much time trying to toggle my health and manna.I usually don't cheat in games as it can ruin the experience but in this case it improved the gaming experience,for me at least.

I got the biggest kick,and some real thrills and chills from the exploration.I would like to see more of that in a sequel.Cheers!

In UT I usually use Masterful bots, but even online with my 1337 56k im usually in the top 5! I want an Undying mulitplayer mode; and I heard they might (big might) have it added in a patch. As for a sequel, we'll probably see one for sure, seeing as how the orignal was excellent :)

Awesome game -- the game is more than a game-- it is an experience. Where art and imagination meet 3d tech. I wish more games were like this one.

Hehe, I've been playing this game for months now (since Feb) and it's awesome! I'm a little stuck atm though. I'm up to the part where I get to kill Bethany and I can't figure out a way to kill her........anyone with any ideas? :)

Nice graphics! a lot better (FPS and quality wise) and the Deus Ex version of the UT engine

Anyway, it is quite scarry, like u look in the mirror and this bastard is behind you.

And also the visions of the dead person and stuff i came across.

I wouldn't say as scary as AvP though

Objective: Kill Bethany
You must complete a few tasks first to make the battle with Bethany a bit
easier. Equip the revolver and silver bullet ammunition and use flight to
ascend to a sorceress (there are two, one in front and one behind you). Take
out the sorceress as you approach with the silver bullet ammunition. You can also search these platforms here for healing roots. Take out each sorceress;
keep your shield active to protect you from frontal attacks.
With both the sorceresses down, equip the scythe (or shotgun) and continue
to keep the shield active. Defeat the summoned creature that assists Bethany.
After you do, Bethany must summon another creature to attack. Switch to the
scythe and use flight to ascend to her neck. As soon as the creature appears,
start swinging the scythe at Bethany's neck - she's vulnerable only after she
summons a new creature.

This game is great!!!

Problem, can any of you solve it?

Since I installed GIANTS and got it to run properly, Undying keeps failing to load. Which is a pity. I like to play it!
It starts the game, then plays the opening movie, then as it's loading the first level, the hard drive just grinds and grinds until eventually I have to reboot the system.

Any fixes?

Undying runs best with a Voodoo3/4/5 card as it supports Glide. I guess Glide ain't dead yet, eh? :D

Hey, thanks for your help guys. I managed to fix the problem myself by going to Deans site (3dxtreme) and downloading directx8.1

Incidentally, I own a voodoo2, two voodoo3's (pci and agp) and two voodoo5's (pci and agp).

But I didn't wanna tell you all that I was having this problem on a computer that is using a radeon. heh heh heh.

Yep, I've heard many good things about Undying through all of the reviews I've read on the Net. I might look to D/L the demo in a couple of days along with the demo to the game "Evil Dead: Hail to the King". It's a 3rd person shooter that's supposed to be as scary as Undying but it has a movie franchise behind it (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness). It also stars Bruce Campbell who plays the role he's famous for, Ash. That's all from here. Out!
