Fork Union? I used to run against those guys in track when I was in high school!.... they were nuts! (needless to say, most the time most of their guys made most of our guys look like they were standing still... and we weren't THAT bad :)).

it was just a small private school in chesapeake, Va. We'd see Fork Union once a year at the virginia independant school's state cross country meet and again at the state track meet in the spring. They'd usually win the spring track meet by a pretty comfortable margin. Our school wasn't big enough to be at all competitive though.

I graduated in '98... I ran track from '94 to '97.

So we were in the same place at the same time, someday. Cool.

I always went to those trackmeets to take pictures for the newspaper.

There were ugly chics though.

my team was the greenbrier gators... (complete ripoff of the florida gators... heh). If you saw people running around with bright orange jerseys and royal blue shorts, that was probably us.. although I think there was another team that usually showed up with very similar uniforms.

We'd also run against a handful of FUMA guys at the state cross country meet in woodberry, VA every year.

And ugly chicks in very short shorts and tank tops is very unplesant :(. There were some decent looking ones though (a pretty fair number on our team usually anyways :)).

btw... if you're interested, here's a couple of shots to prove I was there :). (sorry, I couldn't see any FUMA guys in these shots... I don't think I have any you can see 'em in). These were in '97, I think... so a few years after you were gone.

I heard that many students of military high schools and private boarding schools are given a lot of opportunities for leadership and academic excellence. Being in an environment that helps them set their aspirations higher is a very useful and life-changing thing.
