I´ve seen it pretty decent more of a drama than action though.

It´s one of the more famous manga/anime movies I´ve seen. It´s rather old now have you seen Detonator Orgun though it a nice combination of action/artwork and sci-fi.

Masume Shirow's work is quite famous. From what I've seen more people seem to know about Ghost in the Shell the most even though some of his much older titles like Appleseed and Black Magic M-66 aren't widely as known.
