Can anyone help a neophyte linux user withATI 2D drivers?

Anyone know a good resource for ATI 2D drivers under linux? Trying to find anything for a 9800pro under red hat 9. This default vesa driver refresh rate is killin' me :)

doesnt ATI have a driver posted for that ? I use their 8500 3d drivers in Drakke 9.0 and Debian ,they work pretty good. had to tweak teh config file for X tho.

Thanks for the link, man. Unfortunately, ATI seems to provide 2D support one card at a time and the 9800 isn't up yet. I guess I just have to wait and hope :)

The latest XFree 4.3.x seems to have excellent support for ATI cards (2D-wise). Maybe it would be worth a try.

I've got 4.3.0, it does indeed have a lot of supported cards. I'm hoping 9800pro support will be in the next version or that ATI will get off their ass and get drivers out :)

You can try the new FireGL drivers, to find them just do a serach in google with the search term of glx1_linux_X4.3.zip. Or you can try (only for 2D) the built in Radeon driver of XFree86 4.3 (I don't know if it would work on R350 chipsets)

If yo choose the FGL drivers be warned:
The drivers have a 2D fault, they render "artifacts" in the windows when scrolled down or moved around the desktop.
