This just made the news on my site;

"28/04/2001 - Evening Post

3DFX technology is not dead!!!!

In an interview with Hardware Zone, nVidia's Dan Vivoli confirmed that nVidia will be using the 3DFX technology they aquired in their upcoming NV30 chipset - And going by nVidia's 6 month product cycle, that could be available at the end of this year.

He also goes on to say that the Radeon and KryoII are only competition for the Geforce2 MX, which would be why the Radeon p*sses on the GTS's 3DMark 2001 scores, and the KryoII can hold it's own against the Ultra. - Looks like nVidia are still full of it.

So nVidia's PR sucks, but their tech may be getting better.

Read the interview HERE (http://www.hwzone.it/html/text.php?id=205)

Dont read into this more than it contains.

This is a pure marketing ploy in hopes to gain some recognition from their gobbling up 3dfx engineers.

Simply put- the NV30 series will be the first chip designed by NVIDIA that the ex-3dfx engineers will be employed by the company during it's design. Nothing more, nothing less. How much pull, freedom or say in the new chips has not been announced, determined or otherwise hinted at.

"ex-3dfx engineers that just happen to be on staff during the design of the next series of chips" does not necessarily equate to "3dfx technology in new chips!"

Yeah right. They've still gotta release the GF3 pro, GF3 mx, GF3 ultra, etc...
We'll be lucky if we get to see new tech by the end of next year.

Forget about using 3dfx tech. Their ego is so high up their ass they haven't shittted in 2 years.
