i cant seem to change my mouse to the logitech mouseman+. i want mouse scroll (if that allows it). i have a logitech optical mouseman, plugged into the PS/2 port with an adapter. also, why cant i stay in 32bit colour mode? it detects my radeon and all, but wont let me goto 32 bit and stay.

The linux config tool thingy on the desktop should allow you to change the mouse - If not, use linuxconf.
And as far as the Radeon goes, I had the same problem - I think telling it not to test the res, and then restarting did the trick - If you get really stuck, go back to the console as root, and type "xconf"

MultiGL, were you able to put the whole os together from FTP? If so mind throwing a link or 2 my way?

Just go to www.mandrake.com (http://www.mandrake.com) and check the downloads section - I found that the swedish servers were both the fastest, and most reliable.
But two ISO's, both 640mb isn't the sort of thing you should attempt on 56k - It could take a while.
And make sure you have a download manager that supports resuming - I used getright, But I've head good things about Download Accelerator.

allow me to directly link you:

ftp://ftp.uasw.edu/pub/os/linux/mandrake/dist/iso/

i got a solid 300-400KBps from there, and if you use DL accelerator, you can pause and resume (only server fast enough i found that supported it).

Thanks, and MultiGL, how did you finally get the ISO burning down?

yeah, i picked up a copy of Easy CD Creator, and it works. turn out the problems i had burning the ISO within Easy CD Creator were due to a bad ISO. but i found that site i linked you to, DL it in under an hour, burned, installed, enjoyed. :D :D
