Well, d3d does look better... both shots are 1024x768, 16x Aniso, 4x AA, HL all on default settings

edit: dang, the stupid labcoat twitch doesnt show in shots..... its movement...

Those screenies look identical to me. Excluding some slight jagginess on the openGL scientists tie.

EDIT: Do you have truform switched on in OpenGL?

Yeah, look the crotch (lol) and down, and the edges of the coat... everything is way more jagged up in GL, i dunno why...

also, i noticed the wall above the window looks more normal in D3D...

anyway, everyone has the menu come up fine in D3D?

Are you sure you used 4xAA in OGL? Because it looks like 2xAA at best. By the way since I am here at work on that crappy integrated Intel graphics chipshit, banding is more apparent. D3D looks fine, while OGL is a banding fest.

Yeah, that's how DOD looks to me as well (i.e. D3D looks better than OGL.) Way more jaggies and shimmering in OGL.

anyway, everyone has the menu come up fine in D3D? Maybe that is why Matrox went D3D ,,,,,,, !!

But I noticed more color in GL than D3D but D3D was sharper....

Maybe ATI is using a bit different technique for AA in OGL? I remember NVIDIA used to use 1.5x1.5 (2.25x FSAA) in OpenGL, and 2x1 in D3D, on the Geforce 2... made things look a bit different between the 2 API's.

in the opengl tab, make sure "texture preference" is set to maximum. on my 9700 pro, the default driver setting isn't maximum, but one setting to the left, which caused banding in the tribes 2 sky, etc
