You might want to take a look at this nForce board:
http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDY4
It's cheap, fast and good OC'er. Read the review :)
We went ahead and got this.....
http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/motherboards/MSI_K7N2_1.html
They discontinued the epox I was going to get.

Bah. The Soltek one would have been better :(
Well,so far so good, no errors or lock-ups of anykind so far! Better than what I can say for the old ABIT here when we 1st installed it, which DID have a few blown capacitors that we didnt know about untill I inspected it closer.

We went to Fry's and they were sold out of the 8RDA+. They had the Red discontued tag up. The only thing he misses out on with the MSI board is Firewire.

Your budget is a little low at $160 for a board and memory so I can't recommend an Asus board.
MSI makes some good boards like this one @ $75.50
http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=241020
and it supports PC3200 RAM like this @$88
http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80098
That's at your budget since googlegear has free 2nd day shipping.
IMO, you should wait until you can afford a board that supports Duel Channel DDR RAM since it is very fast.

Well, I prefered to have it, but this one was the only one of choice inspite of now haveing a capability up to a 3.0ghz AMD cpu upgrade,as well as DDR ram. I would have though more peice of mind with the 8RDA+, maybe not only for reliabilty, but I also pointed out to Plaster, that number readout thats on the board itself? The one that tells you whats wrong.
And yes, I could of used the FIREWIRE. I forgot why it wont work?

Yup, the debug LEDs are nice. (C1 = memory problem, etc.)

The Epox board would have had a slight performance edge, not a reliability edge. When I say slight, I mean slight. Try maybe 0.5 - 1% faster. You're also not going to be getting a 3Ghz CPU in that board. It supports up to an XP 3200+ which operatres at 2.2GHz. You wouldn't have had more piece of mind with the cheaper board either. The LED diagnostic on the Epox board isn't exactly rare. There's one on the board that you bought. Open the manual and it shows a diagram of what the 4 LEDs mean in certain combinations of red and green. Since they're on the USB 2.0 expansion plate on the back of the PC you won't need to remove the cover to see the readout. All the LEDs are green at the moment, so you'll probably be disappointed. The layout on the MSI board isn't the best, but it did cut down on the board's overall size. I dont' know if you noticed, but the Epox board probably wouldn't have fit in your cramped case. If you had gone with the 8RDA+ you would have need to either buy a new case, or run without a CD Drive.
Now, about the FireWire. How could you have used it? You don't own a single firewire peripheral. That would be why it won't work. Unless you're in the market for a digital camcorder (http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11203994&m=1&cat=33&scat=36) or an External Hard Drive (http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11217903&m=488&cat=511&scat=512) I dont' see what the problem is. Most offer USB 2.0 support anyway and if that's not enough you can buy a Firewire card for as little as $20.

Yea, we discussed that. And that other board, the NIA or the one next to it was about the same, and they didnt have that either. Well I thought that 4 LED port in the back just menat that all the ports were working.
Well, lets all find out if Crius can get the old ABIT working 100% shall we!?...... Heres wah he said earlyer on... Plaster, eat your heart out....
