I've been working on an Assassin for a few days now. Currently floating around level 17. I have not spent any skill points. Since I'm not a hardcore guy, I don't know all the specs of making a good ass out of myself, so I was wondering what I should start getting skills in?

I'm interested in a strong melee fighter. So far I've shied away from anything that consumes mana, so I've been pumping up my Str, Vit, and Dex.

I've never played this class before, so I have no idea what to do. :dunno: Any help?

The speed skill is quite helpful. Sadly, that's all I know, even though I have a 30-something assass.

I've done two of these, one a long time ago and one more recent. It's the recent I'm looking for and I can't find it for some reason .

All I remember is I was talking with Harddave...

Anyway, I recommend maxing Phoenix Strike and Claw Mastery. Finishing moves (((suck!))) atm. Personally I'm hoping Blizzard changes something about these things. Either ramp up Dragon Tails attack rating modifier or take the casting delay off of Dragon Flight. Luckily for us charges can still be released with a normal attack :)

Tiger Strike is an option. Ramps up physical damage to a hefty degree, but only really good for one enemy at a time. Maxed skill at 3rd charge is something like 1400% damage. Wowza. You can get some area effect out of this by using the Dragon Tail finisher which derives splash fire damage from physical damage dealt.

Shadow Master is great, but doesn't take a lot of points to be usable. I think I have 5 in it. Burst of Speed owns and owns. Get it to about 10 with +skills or otherwise.

Traps are up to you. I find them very useful for stun locking enemies just long enough to slice them up easier. My favorite is now Death Sentry for the Corpse Explosion factor. This is the best crowd mashing skill she has. Combine with Phoenix strike for some serious area of effect devestation.

Stats: Shoot for 200 str / 200 dex / 100 vit / ZIPPO energy

Traps... bleah...

the one that follows you around has the same skills as you is cool and cheap, the one that has all the tree available kinda sucks, cause it always uses the funkiest skills :D (i think it was like that, its been a while since i did an ass)

Tiger is good, but i dont exactly remember if its only physical damage, in which case, it will suck later on...

and then thes the punch that leeches life that can be a lifesaver once in a while.... with big monsters it can be "punch-punch-punch-leech-punch-punch..."

thats as much as i remember now...

max claw mastery

get Shadow Master to level 5 or so, maybe more if it keeps dying

get Burst of Speed up to level 10 or so (the bonus starts to dwindle big time after a few levels so you dont want to waste a point to get 1% faster attack speed each level.)

get a decent level of Death Sentry (only for the larger explosion radius). The lightning damage is pretty useless, but the corpse explosion is quite useful and will make an entire group of cows die in seconds (long as you have 3 or 4 cows dead already).

Phoenix strike is useful, especially the 3rd phase which looks like the sorc's frozen orb attack, only it completely freezes enemies for a couple seconds.

Here's a tip:
The assassin can only have one passive skill going on at once. Meaning that you can only use Burst of Speed, or Fade, or Venom, but cant use all 3. Thus, dont waste any points in fade or venom, cause you'll only wanna use burst of speed.

I've found that dual wielding claws is the best way to go. That dragon tail finishing move blows. Use the one before it (the one with the claw symbol that can only be used when dual wielding). Use dragon flight if you like it.

Max Tiger Strike and Phoenix Strike. You can charge both of these up and release them both at the same time. Just charge up one, hotkey the other & charge it up, and use your finishing move to relase them both.

Burst of speed is a must have, as it also increases your attack speed. Max claw mastery and place a considerable number of points into that dual claw chance-to-block skill, 10-15.

Death sentry is really handy. Kill one or two monsters while charging up your skills, then plop a couple traps. The traps should immediately reduce the monsters life considerably then let loose with the frozen nova, then shatter the rest.

Another useful tip (you have to be quick) is to let loose a frozen nova, drop a meteor, let loose another frozen nova, and repeat the process. Meteor damage stacks.
