OK here's what I've come up with so far:

I want the LX model - 2WD with side air bags.
The "What people are paying" price online is $18,677.

The retail price for the options I want is about $860. Of course that's retail, so I'm not sure what I could get that knocked down to. 25% off sound reasonable? That'd be $645.

Total so far is $19,322.

So how much do I add for their cut? 600 bucks?

If so that's $19,922.

Sound ok? And how much is tax title and license anyway? I assume tax is just the normal sales tax? If so that's another $1,650! :mecry:

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Looks like invoice on that puppy is $17,694. That, plus whatever the invoice on the options adds up to, (don't know what options you want) is your best case scenario. Don't worry about them, you're negotiating the price for you, so shoot as close to invoice as you can. There's also very probably a dealer holdback, so you can probably get it for a good price. Depending on how many they have on hand, they may be very ready to deal. Also, it sounds strange, but you might want to wait until the end of the month. A lot of the time, fees for keeping vehicles on the lot are due at the beginning of the month, so dealers like to dump cars off before they pay on 'em again. Not always, but it does happen.

Tax is, indeed, just flat out sales tax. Are you paying cash or doing a loan or lease? If you're doin' a loan, check and see if they've got sweet deals going or if they will in the near future. Low APR is good stuff :)

There's always a destination charge, dunno what that'll be, but probably around 500$. Title stuff varies by region, that's not usually terrible, though.

It's best just to show up at the dealership and price what they have. Try to talk them down during the negotiaton phase until you are happy with the payments.

If you have a trade in, make sure that your down payment (if any) doesn't go towards paying part on the trade in...I hate when they do that!

:D

Huh? My trade in is paid off, if that's what you mean.
