View Full Version : How good is Corsair Memory?

I can get a stick of 512MB PC2700 for $69.99 at a local store. Buying on the net isn't an option.

I have 2 sticks of that 512MB XMS2700 (XMS=extreme memory systems). The stuff reaches 333MHz+ easily w/ my new XP2400+ operating @166x2 FSB (1:1 memory/cpu ratio). I highly recommend it. Beware though. Corsair has it's "ValueRam" (non-XMS) which has slower timings. It's probably still good, but wouldn't be as stable at higher speeds. Good thing about Corsair memory is that it's tested twice and guaranteed for life (to run at it's marketed speed).

It's going into an upgrade I'm putting together for a friend. He's not going to overclock so I'm sure even the value RAM should run pretty stable at stock speed. Hell, he's getting a TBred 2000+ so I'll bet it won't even run at stock speed. Whats' the FSB on those, 133? He's getting an NForce2 MB and the Memory is just one stick as opposed to two needed for Dual Channel or whatever it's called. On the upside he'll have a larger memory upgrade path when he's not so strapped for cash.
Thanks for the input.
