Hehe, it's use quotations marks night for me. :)

Anywho, this looks intriguing and could provide some diversion for those in the mood.

I realize this isn't something truly new, strictly speaking. EvilEngine among others was messing with these settings from day one. Using the Umod format is pretty cool though imo. Lol, I just backed up my .ini file but having a version that sets back to game defaults seems wise.

Why no stencil though? I thought that improved the graphics on ATI cards?

Also, can't a few of the settings be tweaked to so no compression is used on anything?

Hopefully anyone who has thoughts on the usefulness/non-usefulness of 256 megs of ram videocards will comment here ......... just something basically for UT2003 and not that important even there or ...............?

:)

Edit: Lol, a link would be nice.

Eye Candy for Unreal Tournament 2003 Released! OO7MIKE Monday, June 23

I would like to present a special edition of Eye Candy for Unreal tournament 2003. With the coming activation of the Ultra high quality textures in a future patch I thought it would be fitting to Release the high quality Version of Eye Candy for Ut2k3. It’s quite incredible that game artists create settings in the game that will enable the game to be appreciated at higher details than what was available at the games release time. I seriously doubt anyone in the next year will be able to enjoy Ut2k3 at 1600x1200 with eye candy settings, 4xAA and 8x anistropic. The system I tested this on got 1fps at those settings, but wow the image quality was outstanding! Even if you don't have a fast system, you might want to install the high quality umod if your into taking high quality screenshots or creating a high quality video.

I have also created a few other Umods which will allow users with slower machines or graphic cards to have a crack at playing Ut2k3 with out poking around in their .ini files.

The First version utilizes Ultra high visual game settings. This is very harsh on the system just on it's own so I hope you have a fast system. I'm guessing a 2ghz AMD or a 2.8ghz Pentium 4 processor with a video card that sports 256mb of ram. It is very important that your video card has 256mb of ram. According to Epic Ut2k3 can use up to 180mb of ram while using the ultra high textures settings. Please note that this wont make any difference over the second version until the higher quality texture settings are enabled by Epic.

The Second Version utilizes high quality textures settings that are available in the 2225 patch and before. This version is for users who only have 128mb of video ram. This is currently the Highest quality you can obtain until they enable the higher quality textures.

The Third version is for users with Geforce 3 or Ati 8500/9000/9200 cards. It utilizes low quality settings for maximum frame rates. Users with faster cards may find great performance increases when playing invasion in open maps on waves 9+.

The Fourth version is for Users who have Geforce 2 gfx cards and 900mhz or faster processors. The game is very ugly at this point however users should find this much more playable.

The Fifth version is for owners with Geforce MX/Voodoo 5 or lower cards that happen to have a 1.4ghz processor or faster. This version takes the huge strain UT2k3 puts on the gfx card and puts it on the processor. Even though you may have to run it at 640x480 you may find it a bit more playable than before.

Before you install these, I recomend going into your Video card properties and changing your Mipmap detail level to Best image quality for the first two Umods and Best performance for the 3 other Umods. The conscept is basically the same for ATI card users. Please remember that these Umod files only change graphical settings and does not change any of your personal settings. If you want to try them all, no problem. Just install one version over the top of the other. No harm is done. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain by trying these out.

[ update ] Due to something I looked over I have released another version that will put all of your settings back to default values. If you installed the High quality version and couldn't run it, I highly recomend you install this Umod as it will put all of the settings back to normal. Some of these settings you can't access just in Ut2k3.Users will either have to poke around in there .ini files, or they can just install this default Umod which will put everything back to normal. You can grab this baby here.

Enjoy!

Still hate the moire in the distance though. Incidentally Babel, re-enabling the stencil has no effect on performance.

Edit: Oh! and until the ultra high rezzies come out... I'm still getting a good 40-50fps.

I don't get it, how come theres a umod just to set the UltraHigh settings in the UT2003.ini, you can do that manually. Maybe I'm missing something.
Apoch I have a question dude, you have a powerful ass card and you never used these settings before? Those shaders have always been there too, I'm very surprised you never seen them.

As I've been reviewing the settings in the .config file most of the night... I've discovered that you're correct.
It seems rather silly to download that file when a person can just enable the proper lod settings and get the same result. Maybe he's just pointing to all of the common users an easy way of achieving the goal without editing.

Yeh I found it odd when I extracted the umod(with UMODextracter) that all there was inside the folder was a readme.
