What was it like? I remember my friend playing it obsessively while I battled it out in Duke3D death matches. It looked intriguing but I never got to play.

It came in the D2 battle chest I bought. So is it worth firing it up? I tried once and was unimpressed by my slooooooooow character. Doubly painful when you want to return to town. Haven't they heard of town portals?

Still, I'm curious. Anyone want to game it on with me just for the hell of it? Or should I just count myself lucky that I have the second one to play now?

What, you mean Diablo I?

It's basicly Diablo II at 640x480 with less weapons, less armor, less monsters, pretty much less everything.

I pplayed Diablo I back when it was first out, was a decent enough game, but when I finished it, I didn't feel like playing it over, it's not all that different from one replay to the next.

You could probably walk through it in a week, heh.

I played that game for hours on end. Fun stuff, but I'm sure if I went back and played it again I'd be like...blech!

If I remember right, they had TPs in the game.

Diablo was awesome..... you could build a Fighter and make him learn spells....

And firewall ROCKED!!!!!


and, best of all, TP was a spell..... no running out of TP :lol:

The original Diablo is what got me into gaming.

I OC'd my P75 via the bus to 100MHz so's I could play online. I bought my V3 'cause Blizzard said D2 would have Glide support. I was hooked from the get-go.

I got it in a battle chest, too... twice. Once with Starcraft and once with Diablo. I'd been thinking about firing it on, too, but I'd probably get sick of it really fast :)

Now that I think about it, I probably never played it because I had Darkstone :)

So... is it worth playing then? Maybe just once through? How long into it before you can start traveling back to town easily instead of going back through 2 full levels?

And is it really supposed to look that crappy? There is almost no model detail at all. Those thingies sound like Fallen... say they're Fallen... but appear to be nothing more than a blurry bunches of pixels :confused:

Buy TP's from the witch ? She sells mana and spellbooks...oh crap I can't even remember anymore. I did try playing shortly after the release of D2C but couldn't go back due to the speed....just too slow. :D

Detail??? detail rocks!! i remember when i got D2 1st thing that came into mind was OH MAN DOES THIS LOOK LIKE SHIIT OR WHAT??? in fact, i still believe D1 looks better (at least in 640x480)

and yup, you can buy spellsbooks (iirc) (learn-able), scrolls (id and tp) and potions (including mana) from the witch in town...

and theres no such thing as free id from Cain, greddy geezer :lol:

I love that game, if u dont mind hacking, the duels are WAAY better than D2 normal.. its insanely fun, the spells are WAAYY better in my opinion, Apocalypse.. a REAL nova.. GG PWNED!

Well I fired up the game... do you guys remember that the game was ran entirely off the CD? You'd click the install button, and less than five seconds later you were ready to play.

lol anyway, after speeding through the game with my assassin, everyone walks so damn slow.

Yea, the walking sux, but since it was out before d2 (obviously) u dont expect to move much faster really.

Yup, and once you started the game, all maps were the same, and all that went into your (only) savegame...... which became dayum huge :lol:
