View Full Version : So what skills should you give a Paladin?

I got like 9 skill points laying around waiting for me to figure out what to put them into. The Assassin was easy, heh, maxed out the claw weapons right off the bat :D
Keep in mind I do better when I don't have to hit a lot of, or a sequence of, a bunch of buttons.
Also, are the any Paladin specific weapons? I been using a nice spear I found some time ago, and is doing pretty well. Working on some magic finding armor and helm in the meantime.
Is it worth socketing anything really? Especialy with the chiped stuff? And is xx% chance of finding more money really that big a deal either?
well as for what skills to put stuff into, im not quite sure but the scepters are usually considered paladin weapons, most off them at your level add 2 - 3 to the skill level of 1 or more skills. You could use those to decide what skills you like

The pally must have good defense and vitality; this means he must have a shield and a strong weapon. Pump dex to 100 (last), strength to 150+, and vitality to 200+.
Good skills are Zeal for main attack (5-10 pts), and you MUST max Fanaticism. In hell you will need Vengeance (10-max) and Conviction (15-max). Holy shield is good to have (5 pts). There are other party skills you can put a point into, but the first thing is to rely on yourself--if you can't stay alive your aura's aren't worth squat. :) That's about it really. One point into other skills is all you need, including the "party skills." The only defensive skills you need, all 1 point, are Cleansing, Vigor, and Salvation.
Good weapons are Baranar's Star (the best IMHO) and Shaefer's Mallet. Good armor/shield is Shaftstop and Gaurdian Angel; shields are The Herald of Zakarum and Stormshield. You should try to find other items that have tons of life leech and some mana leech, along with +skills, especially offensive aura skills.
You may wish to get a Defiance merc rather than a Might merc. Fanatacism will help your merc out, while his defensive aura will help you.

Well, I gave one point to a bunch of skills, and four or five to some bolt, Holy Bolt I think? Anyway, comes in handy now and then, but doesn't seem to do much to other creatures, so I have been doing the offensive aura stuff, but will do more defensive as well, he's only lvl 12 or something.
Gonna go start up another one, maybe sorcorer or some spear lobbin' biatch, a range one. And of course I have to do a pure might barbarian :D

I have a harald of Zakarum and a Barnars wid da Guardian Angel..
my first or second pally....
pally can whump the heck out of opponets with a good shield....
it knocks them back and slows em down.
