Hi all, I already ordered the stuff, but I was curious to hear from the pros about my equipment. First I'll start off by telling you what I was looking for, so you'll understand my choices.. and then show you what I got.

I wanted an MP3 system, and I also wanted Pioneer. The whole thing had to wrap up at $500 or very close to that point.

I was thinking about getting the Sony 10 disk changer that tied into an FM station, and was just about to order when I decided to check out regular units that played MP3. Ran into a decent Pioneer that was fairly cheap, but they didn't have a changer that would pair up with it to play MP3s :(

Ultimately I went for Pioneer speakers and the Sony Console/CD changer. I liked the way the console blacks out when not in use, and it's built for displaying MP3 files. I'll buy the 7" counterparts when I get a little more dough. Could I have done better?

BTW I'm really surprised about the price differences between them and Crutchfield. It would have ended up costing me $170 more to go with crutchfield with the same equipment.

Cool. :bigthumb:

I've got about the worst audio possible for my car (GM's supplier of choice, AC Delco). :ugh: I definitely need better car audio. Slackers, please donate to the sj_hurst car audio fund. ;)

Ah, the ghost faceplate.. me likes..

Ive had no complaints about my system at all other than the display is a little dim in the morning but exactly right at night.. Not like it matters tho. i ussually tilt the deck so i wouldnt be able to read it anyways.

Just add on an XM reciever and you'll never leave the car.

Nice!:bigthumb:

I bet those speakers will sound nice.

Just a good thing you didn't get Audiopipe speakers... You'd think they would sound nice, but I heard some and they had a lot of crackling.

Jeez, you wouldnt have to physically change a CD for like a complete trip around the US...

I burned my entire CD collection, roughly 5 gigs worth of songs, and it'll only take up around 8 CDs... what sound I do with the other three? 2100 songs or somewhere around there.

I have everything but the mounting kit, which was on backorder :grrf: So I'm still waiting. :mecry:

Well, tomorrow will be the day. I get the mounting kit. I've already wired the harness with the usual discouraging wires left dangling, measured out and determined how I am going to run the wires from my trunk to the front. Only thing I have left to do is burn a test disk, install the hardware, and :headbang:

It rawks...however the stupid car came with an built-in amp and I had to completely rewire the speakers from under the passenger seat. Took me Two days to finish the thing...so far I have 4 disks in the changer. I'll take pics eventually.
