Just wanted to know your opinion...
I know some people will not like this thread (Ailuros, hehe.. sorry I couldnīt help it! :) ), but others might be interested too.
Just say what you would if you had Tom in front of you and you had 30 seconds to tell him what you think.

I think he's bitter that he doesn't carry the supreme weight in the industry that he thinks he used to.
Arrogant, petty, self centered, pompous, egotistical, sensationalistic writting, overblown sence of self worth, just a few phrases I would use to describe him.
Other then that, his site does have a lot of information on it, long as you take it for the slanted view it was writtin from, and some of his staff is actualy pretty good, and fairly unbiased.
I used to go to his site all the time, 3-5 years ago.

I personally am happy that people don't seem to worship him as they used to. At one point in time (around the time Pentium II's were hot and the ole BX was just comming out) he was actually a source of useful information. Somewhere around 97-98 he seems to have had some kind of life change into the pompous I-think-I-know-it-all that he has become today.
I stopped basing any of my computing decisions off of him long ago.

Particle,
I don't know why you live under the impression that I like Tom or his attitude.... Reread opus' post, I agree 100% with him.
But that doesn't keep me from reading the site once in a while and as I can see it doesn't keep you either from it hehehehe :)
There's nothing wrong with having preferences, it's the way you present things; add a bad attitude to the mix and you'll get the definition you're asking for.
I do read most of the times the german tomshardware site anyway :)

:)
I read Particle's post, he said that "some people will not like this thread"then mentions you....seems to me he was right ;)
To answer that, I think Tommy boy still has some useful information...but his isn't the only informational site anymore, and his isn't even that good one either.
I WILL stop by from time to time to see if there's anything worth mention...then I leave :)

WeaponX,
Particle probably thinks I'm a Toms-fanboy. It's always been rather the contrary.

Tom has simply sold out.Any company that dominates a given market who throws cash out to web sites for advertising will have infuence on Tom's web site.In other words he will always follow the money.Pretty sad if you ask me. :D

Really?
Hmm, that's not what I got, I thought he was implying that you didn't like Tom from the get-go.
Anyway, it's irrelevant, cause:
Tommy Boy
Can stick his toy
where it don't rain
and feels the pain :)

I think it's people like Tom that are giving the technology field a bad name. He and his followers are eggheads. I spent some time on their Delphi discussion boards...everyone was always swearing at each other, and arguing about stupid stuff. There was no sense of loyalty towards humanity.
i think hes awesome! all who do not like him will parish!
anyways, yeah.. he rocks hard nuts! best reviewer out there! woooooooooo!

Tom's Hardware Guide and Thomas Pabst...
He is an arrogant loudmouth :)
He seems very unreliable these days
That Omid guy on the site is a loser too. Another NVidia bum kisser.

The thing I like about Tom's site is it's agenda is loud and clear. There is no subtle hiding or clouding of the site's agenda.
It's truly a capitalistic quality of the "highest bidder wins the kudos" and article after article showing this loud and clear. There is no hiding of the agenda and even a reasonably intelligent reader can see this predominant theme in everything he's done in the past few years.
I recognize and honor that quality in his site as it doesn't masquerade as an "objective" or "unbiased" site at all. It's a site full of opinions- financed opinions or otherwise and makes no bones about it. This is substantially better than the droves of sites (anand, sharkey's, firing squad, etc.etc.) that spend ungodly amounts of time trying to cast an "objective" umbrella over their massive agendas. I respect Tom's site for that.
I also find humor in the unfolding events that can be read on Tom's site. Editorial/articles one month will flip 180 degrees sometimes inside 15 to 45 days. It's pretty clear some deal fell through or promises made didn't pan out after publication of the articles. His selective use of news/information is also very humorous- but again goes without the normal mismash of trying to be pretentious as being something they clearly are not.
Cheers,
-Shark

Oh OOps!
Might want to add some content before I hit post lol :D
I'll just let you know here, though I will go update the thread over there later.
Long story short I want my V5 back :)
System up and running, new MSI MoBo, newest PowerVR driver, latest VIA yadda yadda yadda, it run's ok, but the V5 was smoother and the FSAA isn't even comparable. I saw FSAA on a 64 MB VIVO Radeon and a GeForce 2 Ultra, and they weren't comparable either, so it's not a slam on the Kyro II at all.
I would place the K II next to the 32 MB DDR Radeon and the DDR GeForce2, but I wouldn't place any of them next to my V5, just can't do it, the FSAA just did it for me, heh.

hehe... thatīs not what I meant at all Ailuros. Well, let me explain:
Im under the impression that you do not like flamewars and I thought that this post would start one. Thatīs why I said that you would not like the post, and that is the ONLY reason.
That being said, carry on fellas. :)
