i hope novell can make some goo out of this. i have not been too impressed with netware 6 as a whole. i know 6.5 is going to run on linux as well as caldera DOS, but netware 7 is what im really waiting for. hopefully novell will be able to start pulling in some new buisness.

Novell will pay $210 million in cash to complete the acquisition. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and the winding up of shareholder agreements.
Wow! If I'm correct they're paying almost twice as much as what nVidia paid to 3dfx (in cash, not counting the stock actions) :mecry:

No, I think you got that all wrong... It should be : WOW !! Novell has money???? ...WOW!
How do they have money?? Are they just fronting their real business : a canadian pharmaceutical or a drug delear.. which is it? That is the question!
80% of fortune 500 companies use novell products for thier networks. novell has a great customer base they just have problems with getting windows users to convert. I think netware isa far better OS than windows server.

I always hated netware, but I like their technology. It is certainly far more advanced than Windows is. That's about the only reason I like Netware, because it makes Microshaft look bad. But I still wouldn't use it because most software is geared toward using Windows or Unix in the Enterprise, generally speaking.
Netware is very usefull for Windows, UNIX, Macs and linux. It is much easier to incorporate any of the above mentioned platforms into Novells schema then say integrate them into a windows schema. Linux support is growing for novell. console one and other apps are already available for linux. hopfully this aquisition will yield even better support.
