ok, first. a little background.

There are lots of motorcyles in Thailand, most of them drives wrecklessly, with credits going to out corrupt & incompetent police force. They drive through traffic lights, in the middle of the right lane (fast lane) ,wrong way down the road and and they pass on the left (wrong side)

here's the story, I was about to turn in to the street the street that I live in when a Motorcycle with no plates, no insurance (law = must have insurance) zoomed passed me on the left and hit my front left fender, now I have a rubber pad thingie on all 4 corners of my car, so my car didn't take much damage, but the bike fliped on it's side and the driver hurt her self very badly. now, every thing would be over if she just said "I'm sory" and call the insurance companies, but it wasn't over. she started yelling all these crap at me and said that I was going to pay for it. now, a cop came along, finally, she told him that I passed her on the left. (note: she had a wound on her RIGHT hand, from hitting my car), the stupid bloody copper belived her, and wanted to drag me down to the station, (I found out later that the cop and the woman knew each other) now, normally you would be pretty screwed here, so I called my insurance company, told them to meet me at the police station, and there ofcourse, the copper who brought me in said to the captain on duty that he SAW it happen that I was at fault, at this point any normal person would be hysterical but as thai customs goes, most people knows some body, so I called my mother, She called the Assistant Comissioner of the Metropolitan police and he called the Inspecter of the said police station to see to the matter personally, long story short, I was right, she was wrong, and the bloody copper got sent to a remote border outpost and the Inspecter got a nasty headache.

I feel kind of sorry for other people in a situation like this though, if I didn't know any one, I would be royally screwed, I'd have to go to court, waste a whole bunch of time and money.

final note: if she had said sorry and admit that she was at fault in the first place, I would have helped her with her hospital bill, (thai customs), provided ofcourse that she signed the release saying that she was in the wrong.

*sigh* second bloody time I had an accident involving a woman biker.

yeah motorcycle people suck. When i went to Europe for a school semester i almost got run over about 20 times by motorcyclists. I'd be walkin along the sidewalk with a friend and you'd hear a motorcycle behind ya, but being from the states you dont think much of that. Then as the sound gets louder you turn around just in time to jump off the sidewalk as the guy flies between you and your friend.

hey, when a cop is screwing you good and hard, and your parents know the police comissioner, you'd call them too.
