School computers are slow and so is there internet. They have 3 T1 lines yet they still are uber slow. Wish they could find someone who could manage the server better.

That'd depend on what is the server running and what's its current configuration. Could also have to do with the sys specs of those machines... I'm guessing here, but I'd bet they're under 1Gz machines with 128-256 Mb RAM (at most) and surely they're running WinXP (a resource hungry beast).

no they arent running Xp some are running 98 i think some may be running 2000 but that would be rare. These are little old computers so you may be right. But they could do a better job of configuring the settings so it will be faster or somethin

Sure! but they wouldn't want all the students to miss classes because they're sticked in the computer's lab ;)

I once had a spectrum computer that had a clock speed of 7.14Mhz.
i work at a school. you'd be surprised how little a t1 line goes. its only 1.5 MB remember. We are constantly running at max capacity. Luckily we are getting a 155 MB OC-3 line in november. I cant wait.

The sad thing is, teachers wont let us give them free support anymore..
I asked our teacher the other day if i could clean out the spyware and run AVG...
Her response: "No no, we dont want any viruses on them"!
Grrfff....

hehehehe... what I would do is send one to some random idiot saying that the system encountered a critical error and must be shut down. I would then watch and restrain myself from bursting out laughing as they called the teacher over and she had them reboot.

The teacher kept moving everyone around cause we wouldnt stop laughing.
My school was the complete opposite, they waste over a million dollars a year on fiber (iirc it's oc-3, but I'm not 100% sure). The great part is you can never use it. All the teachers are real tightasses who patrol around the computer labs when you use the computers, and last year I think I used the intrawebby about twice. Now, someone who took a computer course would've probably used teh intraweb more, but still, even a single t3 is overkill for a school that you're never allowed to use the intraweb. Your tax dollars hard at work. Please throw us more money so little Johnny's grades will improve.

Too bad it tells you who sent the netsend, lol... you mustve had an idiot teacher!

Well most students will just hit enter or ok and it will go away and they will be paniking too much. lol also some of the teachers dont know how to track where it came from.
was the puter any faster after spyware swep it and it was fragmented?

It says the name of the computer that sent it, so if you rename your PC "SYSTEM" or "WINDOWS" or the like, it is a bit more confincing. :D

Hmm.. never thought of that... eventho red flags go up when stuff like that is changed on our system... and only teacher's can do that.. but apparently i am a "teacher" anyways
