Intel is solid but expensive, Gigabyte has some decent mid level and some nice high level. I don't see much difference between same tier manufactures anymore, just stay away from the budget shit.

my one and only experience with an abit board was not good. the thing didnt work. :dunno:
opus you say stay away from budget shit but isnt that what ECS is? and if so i've had an ECS board now for about a year i guess and havent had a prob. but like i said those are the 3 i've boiled it down to. thx ;)

ECS was a mixed bag in my experience. Had a number of them come in DOA, had a number of them die fairly soon, had a bunch of them have no problems. In the end, most of the time, you get what you pay for. If you haven't had problems with them, by all means, go for one. But for the small price difference, I would go up to a Gigabyte or even an MSI, since MSI is about the only manufacturer still with a three year warranty, that I can think of anyway.

well i want something different now but i had to point out what i have is considered budget and has performed admirably ;)
btw it's gonna be a coupla weeks before i make any moves on this but i'll let ya know how i do :)
I suggest the Asus P4P800, good solid board, and not overly expensive. Been working great for me.
