View Full Version : sigh, TDK sellin out.
So i finally stopped screwin around with my other problems and installed my new TDK indiDVD 12x burner, and it comes with frickin Roxio software :mecry:. I have 2 other TDK drives and they've always come with Nero. What's even worse than having Roxio software on my computer? the fact that it wont even frickin install! I go to install Easy DVD Creator and it errors out at around 60-70% saying that the install process was interrupted, but "nothing has been changed on your system". When i press Ok the installer exists and it says i need to reboot to finish my installation lol. WHen i reboot, there is a TDK launcher on my taskbar. The launcher has shortcuts to a half a dozen programs that wont friggin install :mecry:
I swear i have so much trouble with computers that i need to go back to school and learn ceramics or something.
ROFL i just did a google search for "indiDVD 12x install problem" and one of the top results is for slackercentral. WHen i clicked on it, it actually went to a page that shows all post from Gibb Boy.
That's a sign you need to get out more. :)

Learn Ceramics? You going to make a cd burner out of clay?
Why not install the Nero software you got from one of the other burners??
isnt the DVD part of Nero only available in 6.0? I only have 5.5 from my other TDK burner.
Anyways i've already made 2 discs using the trial version of Nero 6.0. It seems to be working ok, cept that i'm only getting the option of burning at 4x :mecry: Could just be the demo version or nero restraining that tho.

Gibb, I'm using Roxio or at least some parts of it. I found that the same problem your having, I had to with Roxio 6. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with only specific components of it. I used Easy CD creator 6, Disk copier, and that was it. I didn't install any of the crap that comes with it like....Drag to Disc, or the DVD player crap. (use WinDVD). For copying DVD's I have been using DVD shrink, and then burning the ISO with Disc copier. It works great!!! For making Data DVD's I just use Easy Cd creator.
Don't think you can use any of the Nero programs that come with other burners though. They are proprietary to the burner.
Oh, and I wanna see a clay dvd burner too!

I hear you...
Nero is the best, I wouldn't settle for anything else.

it's actually pretty funny, but those OEM Nero versions (and whatever else comes with them, PowerDVD for instance) are proprietary... but they're proprietary to TDK. I had an old DVDrom drive that came with some computer and i went to install PowerDVD 4.0 for it but it said it was for TDK drives only. I then popped my 32x TDK burner in there and it worked, even tho the TDK was not a dvd rom drive lol.
So in other words, those Nero versions i had previously would work, but just not for the DVD stuff.
whelp, i went ahead and got Nero Ultra 6.0. I've been wanting it for a while, so what the heck. Least now i wont have to worry about having Roxio crap all over my computer like mold on bread.

yeah, i now have 3 TDK burners, which all came with Nero except this last one. To this day i've only gotten one frisbee, and it was due to a power outage :P
I remember back when i was using some roxio proggie or whatever came with this POS Sony 20x burner i got, i would have a buffer underrun error 1 outta 5 discs. That was one of the last burners that was released without buffer underrun.

Bummer on TDK going with Roxio :(
My BenQ (Acer) DVD burner I just picked up came with Sonic Record Now, Took me a bit to get used to it, it's the basic version, but other then that I like it a lot. Used to love NTI, but they got flaky with version 6. Nero is good, too, could use it in some instances I couldn't get NTI to work with, but now I just use the Record Now for all meh burnin' needs.
