I think the guy thought his card was leet, when we know its not.

I've got a Radeon 9600XT, and even though it's a decent performer, it's still lacking. :(
BTW, how come every single Catalyst release above 4.2 makes all my games run like ass? I'm still using the 4.2's because every other newer Catalyst release acts like crap on my computer.

No problem here with 4.6 :dunno:
Maybe a hardware or software conflict, I do not know.
Any game with Cat 4.6 or 4.7 runs poorly. I thought it was just KotOR, but then I tried some other games, and it's the same. :(

HEY! I had one of those. A Gainward Geforce 3 Ti200, ramsinks and all :D
we had to increase the AGP appeture from 64 to 128 and got a huge performance increase. Only card i have seen that hapen on...

What're you talkin' about?? My main machine is still running a GF3 Ti200. I can't wait to finally upgrade my 2-year old machine (P4 1.8Ghz/533Mhz).
Of course the only game I play on it is Tribes 1 and I originally was playing that on a Pentium II (300Mhz) with a Voodoo 3 and a dial-up 33.6 connection, so I haven't felt a real need to upgrade until closer 'til the end of the year when Tribes: Vengeance comes out.

B. If you're a hardcore Tribes 1 player, then yes it does. If you're new to the game, then it probably won't be so bad. scott26 seems to like it alot, but I don't think he played T1.
Of course you could always download either game for free now from Gayplanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/section.aspx?s=30202&v=0) or go get Tribes 1 (http://www.sierra.com/file_list.do?gamePlatformId=286) from Sierra instead of waiting in line. If you want Tribes 2, you'll pretty much have to go through Fileplanet since you have to get a key from them as well. Tribes 1 requires no key though.

Cool, I can't wait for mine. I'm gonna blow mine out with a PCI Express 16x AGP card and a new works on everything including SATA. I figure that should be more than enough for Tribes: Vengeance and if it keeps me going until the next Tribes game, then I'll be set for a good while.

Whyfore?What is the difference in the 1 & 2?
Tribes 1 = LOTS of speed
Tribes 2 = They axed the speed to the crawl of a turtle. Also, the introduced homing rocket launchers. The sad thing is that Tribes is about flying and when it's easy to home in on your flying opponents without any skill, then what fun is that.
Plus I was one of the unfortunate souls to buy Tribes 2 the day it came out. Got it home, installed it and had to immediately apply 2 patches that day. A couple more days and there's another patch and after that one my Tribes 2 wouldn't run correctly. A few more days and there would be a reverse patch for the previous one that I installed to let me now finally play the game again. That concept of patches went on for about a month or so. And they also changed the games physics with every patch, either slowing or speeding up the game each time. After a week or so of dealing with that, I gave up on Tribes 2.

Have these two friends. We had a little lan-party with a few other friends. The two had FX5200's. They wouldn't stop talking about how great they were. I got tired of it, ran 3dMark 2001se on my (at the time Radeon 8500.) They did the same in an effort to prove how great the FX5200 was. Once it was over and the fact that my ancient 8500 had molested their FX5200's was evident, one of the guys accepted that the FX5200's are crummy budget cards, while the other refused to accept this, and spent the rest of the lan-party "tweaking" his system for better performance.
The life of my 8500 as my main systems video card was coming to an end. It was great to squeeze one more great moment out of it.

However i didn't like the first one.
I love tribes 2 though. the vehicles and physics are awesome :)

You didn't start with the first one though, did you?? T1 was all about physics and speed. T2 axed a majority of that so skiing felt almost useless. I admit, there's alot about T1 that's bad, but T2 just felt so sluggish and slow compared to the first one.

i did play it a bit. oddly enough i didn't really enjoy it
