After the profound mediocritie of the first two, I'm not getting my hopes up much. If it's great, then that's a bonus, but for now I expect it to be on par with the last two.

The Emperor would have sensed it somehow, he didn't predict what Vader did in ROTJ because ( imo ) he was so concentrated and hating on Luke he didn't see it coming .

he made a lot of mistakes in ROTJ :lol:

sending the Star Destroyers away and not ordering them to attack was the start...

Of course, if Vader hadn't destroyed the Emperor, the rebel fleet would've been obliterated even without the help of the Imperial stardestroyers.

There a great explanation about that in "heir to the Empire". Once the emperor was destroyed, the Imperial ships started dropping like flies (as seen in the movie). It is said that the emperor had direct control over the fleet through the force and once that control was removed (by his death), the Imperials were all messed up and started making lousy strategical assesments which led to the victory of the rebel alliance...
