ok i cant find the thread about the books so i'll ask again, where do i start in the book world to get the old republic story? i was at borders the other day but all they seem to carry is the new jedi order series. i did get my hands on the approaching storm, great story btw, but it's a clone wars novel and anakin is already about the age he is in ep2. i wanna start at the beginning. the 411 please. :)
oh i also grabbed vision of the future but after a few pages i stopped since i dont want to ruin the time line in my head. i wanna read from start to end without going back and forth. in that book thrawn has already come and gone and they're using a scammer disguised as thrawn. i want to read thrawns' story from the start not read about him in past tense.

EU on the Old Republic is pretty much limited to the prequel comics and novels (none of which I've read yet), as well as the Sith War comics (haven't read those either, yet) which take place shortly before the events in KotOR.
For prequel era novels, you can start by looking here (http://www.theforce.net/books/reviews/novels_chrono.asp).
Did you actually start reading Vision of the Future, or did you get Specter of the Past? VotF is the second part in the Hand of Thrawn duology, so everything would make really little sense if you haven't read the first book - let alone if you haven't even read the original Thrawn trilogy, which is what you're looking for. The books in this trilogy are called Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command. And please, read them in chronological order. You've probably spoiled several fairly important parts from those books already by starting with the Hand of Thrawn duology, but there's no sense in spoiling the books even further.

oh and i'm finally getting around to going cover to cover on splinter of the minds eye. i've had this book since about the 8th grade and never read it entirely. the only reason i'm doing so now is i didnt get to the book store yet to look for the stuff you linked.
besides i think you said before it has nothing to do with any timeline so it shouldnt hurt to get it out of the way. kinda boring so far really. leia and luke have escaped the imp dude and are currently in some underground area. i hope it picks up a little. ;)
Sunday night I can finally go back to reading Star Wars (I only read at work and I'm still on vacation). Book 3 of the X-wing series, which is a 9 book series

Better hold on to your seat then because we're on a highroad to INCESTUOUS UNDERTONES CITY.

it's all good if neither of them know right?
Like with Oedipus. He was living it up until he found out, then he lost his eyes and stuff.

yeah i noticed but actually this is expected. heck they swap spit more than once in the movies.
btw this book is still very boring and i am just about done. the only reason it's taken me more than a day to read is because i keep putting it down. the action is lame at best and the story itself is most uninteresting.
geez i poured thru hearts in atlantis which is 600+pages in 2 days compared to this crap which is going on day 4. :O
