South Park seems to be going downhill pretty badly, Season 9 was pretty hit and miss, and season 10 seems to be worse.
10x01 - The Return of Chef - Was just an excuse to badmouth the character before finally killing him off. I'll never watch this episode again.
10x02 - Smug Alert - Was the best episode of Season 10 so far, not saying much. Not that funny.
10x03 - Cartoon Wars - Getting seriously sick of this "Catastrophy Movie" feel to South Park.
10x04 - Cartoon Wars II - Ditto. If I wanted to watch Family Guy, I'd watch Family Guy (And after Season 10, I think I should), if I wanted to watch Bart Simpson, I'd go back to 1995.
10x05 - A Million Little Fibres - Turned it off halfway through, horrible episode.

To be honest I'm sick of the show being so damn preachy, it was nice that they added a meaning to the episodes, but they're seriously getting full of themselves. I don't watch South Park to have the deeper issues affecting America crammed down my throat, I watch it to laugh.

I thought Smug Alert sucked :D

The Return of Chef was kind of an inside joke episode, it was ok but not great.

I liked the Cartoon Wars twofer, though I'm a bit tired on the whole world's ending shtick too.

Haven't seen the last one yet.

The best seasons were the first three, season four had some good points but started to slide, season five kinda came back a bit, but six was weak, and season seven IMO was by far the weakest. Season eight started off good, but lost it after the first few episodes, and season nine was weak at best.

I htink the problem they ran into was when they started trying to be topical to current events. Just doesn't give enough time to write the story, and you get limited by the basic structure you have to follow.

I'd rather go back to the first few seasons and focus on the town and it's characters instead of current events.

I haven't seen any South Park since season 6 or so (I once got them all in realmedia format), but I'm already tired of the new episodes without even seeing them. I saw a snippet from the Family Guy episode and I thought it was lame. I actually thought the Family Guy spoofs they showed where funnier than the rest of the video

I'm getting a bit tired of hearing about every new episode because they did "this" or "that". Seems like it's getting more important to make the news than it is to deliver a funny show.

I'm a big fan of Trey & Matt, but South Park has never appealed to me all that much, except for the movie, which was superb...

It's hit and miss, IMO. But then, I still like The Simpsons. And Family Guy was never a favorite. If it wasn't for Stewie and Brian I wouldn't watch it, heh. Peter as a character just never appealed to me, meh.

I got every single SP episode Cop, yo uwant one, let me know :D

Some later episodes to watch if you get a chance;
Krazy Kripples, Cancelled, Grey Dawn, All About Mormons, It's Christmas in Canada is a classic, Awesome-O is another classic, Douche Vs Turd, Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes, Preschool, Woodland Critter Christmas, Wing, Erection Day, Trapped In The Closet was the one ripping on Scientology and Tom Cruise.

I think they're just milking it for all it's worth, and in todays world, fuck it, go for it. You can make some money on that crap, tear it up. Even at it's lamest it's still better than half the shows on American TV since it came on anyway.

Cancelled, Awesome-O

Yer just mad because Family Guy sucks, never has a coherant plot, and South Park called them on it. Every joke really is thrown together at random.

"Remember the time I went on a clam dig in China with the cast of friends in a ninja costume?" Perfect Family Guy joke. People on Family Guy forums were losing their minds over those episodes because South Park called it like it is.

if I wanted to watch Bart Simpson, I'd go back to 1995.

Family Guy regularly features pop culture references far older than Bart Simpson, actually practically every single episode is nothing but jokes about celebrities one right after the other over and over and over again, and they have zilch to do with the plot. So by the same logic you shouldn't like Family Guy either.

Many critics despise Family Guy because of its sloppy amaturish writing and its completely generic presentation of a cartoon family. Random jokes make up the majority of the show and they are all interchangable since they have no connection to the plot. So you could take the jokes and mix them up and they wouldn't even effect the continuity of the episode or season. It obvious from watching the show that the writers create the random jokes and then later fit them into an episode.

Now Simpsons has bashed on Family Guy a bit too. South Park had the Simpsons Did It episode where they point out that since Simpsons has so many episodes they have covered everything. However, Family Guy has episodes that are scene by scene almost identical to the Simpsons.

That said......I agree the Towlie episode completely sucked and the Chef episode was just thrown together.

I really like Family Guy you nub, this thread is about South Park going downhill.

Family Guy isn't South Park. The old South Park is incredible, the new South Park is boring and tired.

In your entire post you're focussing on Family Guy rather than South Park except the last line, why is that? Oh and The Simpsons should have ended 10 years ago, I can watch an entire new episode of it without smiling once now. I watched 6 new episodes my friend gave me, I smiled once.

I haven't seen too many new Simpsons and I don't know which season was the last one I saw pretty much in its entirity (is that a word? Looks weird, lol), but by then it was already hit'n'miss. It would get too absurd without being particulary funny. I taped every single episode of those seasons so I could watch them again if I wanted... ...I hardly ever did. Yet I must've seen every episodes from season 2 till where they are now on DVD at least 10 times a piece...

It got too random, but unlike Family Guy's random crap (which is usually funny flashbacks) this took episodes in completely different directions every 5 minutes without ever becoming funny. It's sad really, because watching these DVD's again, they really were superb in their prime...

I still kinda like Southpark and Family guy. The latest shows from both series are hit and miss. That Oprah crap they showed last week made no sense at all. The point behind the cartoon wars wasn't to "call is like it is" and say that "Family guy sucks". If you weren't so Cartman-like you'd see that ;). Thats what Kyle was trying to say That the two are completely different humors and neither is better...though at this point neither is really that great anymore, but they once were IMO. Now they're kinda like burnt out rockstars :P

What Family Guy are we taking about btw? I should get Season 4 in the mail somewhere this week. Are they still going. What season are they doing at the moment?

Technicaly it's a continuation of season four, but IMO it should be labeled season five. It's getting weak already, IMO.

The Simpsons are totaly formulaic, you can see most of the jokes coming, and almost nothing makes sense. However, it's a freakin' cartoon, and it's notsupposed to make sense. I still enjoy the show immensly.

Back to South Park, and any show for that matter animated or not, they always hit a point where they drag, then pick up and get polished once it's big, then it's a long slow slide downhill for the most part.

But I still like South Park, even if it is weaker than it used to be. The first three seasons, bar no episode, were all classics, heh.

If Season 10 keeps going the way it's going, I'm not going to bother watching it anymore. I was watching all the old episodes last night and can't believe how far it's fallen so quickly.

Look at Season 7's episode list, so many good episodes.

Cause you said you would rather watch family guy so I am pointing out that Family Guy sucks and it makes no sense to bitch about Bart Simpson when FG has even older more tired pop culture references :)

BTW Family Guy sucks

Really think so? I only count about a half dozen in that season that are really good. Krazy Kripples, Cancelled, Grey Dawn, All About Mormons and Christmas in Canada (which was a classic, heh). The rest were ok, but I didn't care for the Little Bit Country one, or Fatt Butt and Pancake Head, Red Man's Greed, South Park is Gay was iffy, Casa Bonita I thought was weak.

Meh, I'll still watch them. I never made it a point to see every one as soon as it aired anyway, so it's not a big deal to me. Every show gets weak after a while, and I never thought South Park would make it past the first couple of season

I don't really understand why Family Guy and Southpark can't co-exist. Family Guy was pretty light on the funny tonight, and last weeks South Park was so bad, I stopped watching half way through. I've never done that during a Southpark episode before.

You fail at English.

10x04 - Cartoon Wars II - Ditto. If I wanted to watch Family Guy, I'd watch Family Guy (And after Season 10, I think I should), if I wanted to watch Bart Simpson, I'd go back to 1995.

If I wanted to watch Family Guy, that's what I'd watch. Family Guy is better at being Family Guy, South Park should stick to being South Park. Comprende?

Season 3 of Family Guy was the last strong season, IMO, with one of my favorite episodes Road to Europe.

Family Guy is to oeasy though, as it just focuses on such short story lines and quick sight gags. Good for what it does, but what it does is just too limited IMO.

Agreed on season 3 being the best, but Family Guy is good for a quick laugh still.

10x06 - Manbearpig - Meh, was alright, better than the previous episodes of Season 10, but still, meh.
10x07 - Tsst - Friggen brilliant episode, hopefully it keeps going like this.

LOL, wtf ya'll talking about...
comedy comes in different forms - it doesnt have to have a coherent plot or whatever; as long as the jokes are there and it makes you laugh, then the writers accomplished there goal.

family guy freakin' owns - dont care what the critics say. critics are critics.. bunch of emo-driven fat slops or teenage psuedo-"i hate everything" peeps. dont listen to em.
