Well ? What show has the pull strong enough to tear you away from the 'puter ?

Me ? "Law&Order"

edit: SVU is perhaps even better than the original series.

TV has gone pretty wayward for me since Seinfeld left. However. My wife watches ER, and while I start the show from the computer room, I always end up finishing it on the couch.

Hockey.

Followed shortly by any good war documentary on the History channel

And, of course, Iron Chef.

But, more than anything, the Simpsons.

Walking with the dinosaurs.

oh and any formula 1 grand prix on tv.

nothing in the last few years seem to interest me.

Films on the other hand are another matter, while I dont watch much tv if any, I watch many many films every week, not on the computer, mainly on cable and DVD, in addition to the theatre.

but tv programs I used to watch in the pre-PC days were "a-team" "knight rider" "battlestar galatica" "Quantum leap" and of course my all time favourites "Monkey" & "Tales of the golden monkey"

Not including re-runs, I currently watch Flash Gordon, Stargate: Atlantis, Smallville, ...Jay Leno,...Conan O'Brian, and The Sarah Conner Chronicles looks very promising.

Looking forward to new eps. of Supernatural (Jan. 31st), the final two season 1 eps. of Chuck (Jan 24th), and season 2 of Torchwood (Jan. 26th).

Doctor Who season 30 airs this Spring on the BBC in the UK, so I guess SciFi will air it around mid-August.

Hoping for the return of my Heroes, The Bionic Woman (tho doubtful), and season 6 of Penn & Teller: Bullshit!.

Lol, X-files has been gone for years, and Stargate I gave up on after the first season (which I guess was showing when this thread was posted originally). Movies I've completely stopped watching on TV (DVD only).

But strangely enough, the rest is still pretty much the same. I still love both Simpsons and Futurama (even though I don't watch them on TV anymore, only DVD), but I can also add Family Guy and American Dad.

Have I got news and the Dutch version of that show are still about the only thing I still turn on the TV for and will even tape when I can't watch them live...

It's gotta suck. How could you still have a believable futuristic series about a talking car at this day and age? That worked in the '80-ies, it isn't going to work now...

The only way they could've made it still work was if they made it into a movie and gave it the Starsky & Hutch treatment. Very tongue in cheek...

Giving Torchwood another chance after the shite first season. I hope they pull their collective heads outta their asses and start being competent.

New Futuramas

Mythbusters (can't get enough of Adams goofyness).

UFO files on the History Channel. Stupid, but entertaining.

Yeah, it takes a while to grok that on SC that kind of teasing is actually affection, a sign that you are a regular. lol, it's only when your posts and threads get totally ignored that you have cause to wonder "wtf?".

Oh, and Cop, I forgot to mention the other day, most porn from europe ain't worth the bandwidth. Seems to be made by either ridiculously pretentious "auteur" wannabe's or thuggish euro-mafia types (it's as if Christopher from the Sopranos was directing and Paulie Walnuts was holding the camera, coked up whores courtesy of the Bada Bing).

And I really respect and admire Cop. :D I rep him long time.

At least the girls look great, not like many of those American porn 'stars' that all seem to try to look like one another. Even the ones that start out pretty eventually evolve into these typical trailerific porno bimbettes...

:) True enough

Back on Topic:

Damages

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0914387/

Didn't think I'd be very impressed and I didn't think I'd be able to avoid snickering at all the baggage this type of show has to deal with.

I was wrong. :) Glenn Close takes her role to a whole other level. Ted Danson delivered a really nuanced performance. The "babe" of the show, Rose Byrne, sinks her hooks into the viewer and really makes you care what happens to her.

Sooooo many pleasant surprises ...... e.g. Zeljko Ivanek as Ray Fiske, he plays Ted Dansons lawyer. At first we think we're just going to get a performance from an excellent character actor but then we see his role steadily evolving.

It's still "just" TV but it really challenges conventional thinking as to what the limits are of that format.

Edit: I agree with the critic who said that you need to give the show a chance, it's the second episode that lets you know the ride is getting started.

Woah, woah, woah, they are doing a new Knight Rider? WTF?

One of my favorite series of all time, and I miss this new version? What? Lol.

The "Knight Industries Three Thousand" ? There was already a Knight Industries Four Thousand, but it was in the terrible, terrible Knight Rider 2000 movie, lol. And a Mustang? WTF? There are still Firebirds out there morons! 2002 Firebird. But a Mustang? Barf, lol.

http://images.automotive.com/reviews/images/02firebird.jpg

The scanner, while looking interesting, is too changed from the original. Double-sweeping isn't needed.

David Hasselhof has been trying to get a Knight Rider movie done for years. Last I heard he wasn't happy with one particular studio because they wanted KITT to NOT talk at all.

As for my favorite shows.

Stargate SG-1
Stargate: Atlantis
MythBusters

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis were the only reasons I watched SciFi anymore. The channel has sucked for years. Going so far as showing ECW Wrestling. The CEO Bonnie Hammer openly said years ago she hated "scifi and space shows", so why the !@#$ would you be the CEO of a network dedicated to it? SciFi "Originals" are absolutely pieces of trash, and the few shows that do go over big they !@#$ over anyway (Stargate SG-1, FarScape.)

Moonlight
Scrubs

I just started watching Moonlight on youtube, some of the episodes are incomplete but, wow, I'm loving this show.

Out of the hundreds of crappy things they could do to frak the show up they barely do any of them. (The show is going to remind people of Forever Knight).

And they get so much very right. Really good music choices, great casting and editing, quite decent scripts, a decent infusion of humor, and a fairly fresh take on what is a much traveled theme.

:bigthumb: More than just a guilty pleasure.
