Interesting movie. My wife makes a point to rent Oscar winners we haven't seen. I wanted to watch it just cause eveything Benicio touches seems to turn to gold. (Usual Suspects, Way of the Gun) What really got me was the color tinting, yellow in Mexico, blue in Washington, nothing for everyday American life.
Trying to find the "Grand Message" from the writter, all I can come up with is the drug war is a politians game, and not really solving anything. It's going to keep moving forward no matter how hard the politians fight, and the only way to fight it is on the home front.
I don't really do well with these Oliver Stone style docu-dramas, but this one was pretty good in my book.
