Well, if it was accurate it would be good. It's definitely passionate. You can pick any period of time and compare and contrast it to others and pick your facts as you see fit. The Great Depression? We talking WWII when we had segregation, victorian ethics, and readjustment after a devastating war? Industrial revolution and worker abuse? Space race and fear of nuclear war and the cold war? WWI around the time prohibition was passed because of horrific alcoholism across the country (and/or women gained the right to actually vote).

The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow isn't as bad as it seems.....

Very True. I just hate people who go on and on how America is the greatest country in the world and have nothing to back it up with.

The older we get, the better we all were.

Also the reason I like this speech isn't the last 30 seconds where he talks about how good America used to be. Its the start of it. Most people don't know how bad we are on infant mortality and only freaking African nations with no running water or electricity are worse, or that 25% of all prisoners in the world are in the USA.

I can't watch it as in on a mobile, but is it Charlie Chaplin's speech? I'm guessing not, its too broad and isn't about America.

I saw that, it's a show by the creator of The West Wing.

I find his writing glib, at times. But then again, he's writing for TV.

Too bad that his TV series (The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60, etc) all start with a blistering monologue...
