What's not to love about beating a confession out of a perp?

I'm super excited about this game. I preordered from Gamestop so I could get the extra case (though I didn't know about the Wal-mart one).

Cotmweasel and I are picking it up at midnight tonight, I'm really looking forward to it (and The Witcher 2 which unlocks at midnight as well).

How are the mechanics, similar to GTAIV?

Actually, it feels more like Heavy Rain, with sandbox elements. The focus on driving around town is minimalistic, and you actually have the option to skip the long driving segments if you'd like to just work on the cases and detective work. If Mafia II would have had this option, the game probably would have been 5 hours long instead of 20, haha (note: I haven't finished Mafia II, just making a joke).
I've actually been skipping the driving segments, cause I have a tendency of running over pedestrians and causing a lot of property damage when I drive. However, skipping these segments means you miss out on answering random dispatch calls for various events around the city. I was driving along once and a call for a masked gunman came over dispatch, and it was right next to me, so I stopped to take the guy down. |

I think I'm gonna pass. I really don't like the period it's set in. Don't like it in movies either...

I will say that the 40's hairstyles on the women make most of them rather unattractive. I don't think I've seen an attractive girl in the game yet, cause they all have butch styled haircuts cause it was the thing in that era.

Wow, I didn't even know you could skip the driving sequences (not that they are that long...) but in my first interrogation as I was on my way there I ran over 3 people and screwed my rank up!

Apparently this game is causing some overheating issues on PS3s and 360s
http://support.rockstargames.com/ent...g-in-l-a-noire I think I'll try taking breaks every once in a while to hopefully not fry my system. |

Here is a decent article about the L.A. Noire lock ups and freezing issues:
http://videogamewriters.com/la-noire...rkaround-10886 Apparently Rockstar blamed the latest PS3 firmware 3.61 until they got a pile of 360 complaints about the same thing. They've changed their statement to give a short FAQ on how to workaround the problem, tho I'm not sure what it could do. Quote:
Maybe I'm in the clear, cause I played for maybe 3 and a half hours Tuesday night without problems. I do have a slim PS3 now, which doesn't seem to be having the issue like the older fat model PS3s. |
