Redhat 8.1 and games...

How well it works with games? what's the best way to run them?

Note: I don't have it yet, I'm waiting for the Cds that klausing sent me.

I just want some info.

Thanks.

Maybe you're talking about Mandrake 8.1 (Red Hat's up to 7.2 only). And yes, it works fine with games. I'd rather wait for Mandrake 8.2 (it has the complete Star Office 6 which is very compatible with Micro$h!t's Office).

Setting up games depends on your hardware. Any recent distro will work if your hardware is supported (that's the only reason I have to stick with nVidia).

Here's an info link for Mandrake 8.2:

I'm holding my next OS upgrade until the next Red Hat release is available. (I like Red Hat's beta support).

Vincent:
Yes, it supports the V3, though to get 3D accel from XF86 I'd recommend you to download the drm modules from dri.sourceforge.net, do not worry, the V3 works better than the V5 under Linux.

Thanks, but what's the size of the files?

Cause I'm at 56K.

Downloading linux files from a 56K connection is like moving a mountain with a finger or bending a spoon with your mind.

Eventually, you will do it.

I spent the last four days downloading the whole Ximian Desktop, the latest patches for Gnome 1.4 and all my security patches and recommended upgrades for RedHat 7.2.

Over 400MB... with a 56K connection.

You'll get used to it.
