Dumb Radeon8500 question...

The fan on my card is starting to die, it works correctly sometimes but most of the time it stutters...

Can the card run without a fan? (I don't over clock the card at all)

The only reason I am asking this is because I don't feel like replacing the heatsink/fan...

Just leave your case open and have a straw handy. When your video starts corrupting blow 'till all's well.

Nah man, you need the fan. Heatsink wont cut it unless you can somehow have a little mini-fan blowing onto it with your case open.

Might as replace it.

Although radeons run extremely cool comparatively.... replacing the fan is your best option.

I only had the card since march... I was hoping I wouldn't have to replace it...
I'm starting to like PaleDuke's idea, lol

Maybe I'll go buy a 486 fan and just glue it on top of the current heatsink like I did with my Voodoo3...

if your willing maybe get a blue or chrome orb... make ur card look phat! while giving it sufficient cooling, but if you are really concerned ask ati to replace it.

I think asking ATI to replace the heatsink would take forever so I guess I'll look for one of the orb heatsinks...

I have the Crystal Orb on mY radeon8500, it allowed a much higher core overclock :0 (for all the good that does with a Radeon).
