Radeon Drivers for Linux
got a Radeon 7200 in my linux box any 3D hardware drivers for this card and linux ,I already have most things working from clean install of Mandrake 8.2...(the Penguin and are becoming friends here latley
) DRI has Radeon drivers at their site does anyone know how they work ? thnx for any help u can give T.C. ![]() a.k.a. TechnoGhoul

I also own a Radeon7200. The DRI drivers for your 7200 should be built from the sources found at http://dri.sourceforge.net, just follow the directions on how to build them and you are set!
things to verify wheter they are working right: once you installed your drivers, upen up a console and type in glxinfo. this should get you a little screen with your card's capabilties, and make sure that the Mesa version reads your actual card, something like ATI 7200 on a X86 AGP (2,4)... and at the very top of the log (scroll up) and make sure that says "yes" where it reads Direct Rendering: You may start a game (like Chromium or TuxRacer) and compare your performance. Note: There is no (as far as I know) support for the Charisma Engine of the Radeon 7200, i.e expect no T&L. Thus your performance may be lower than that of a Voodoo 5. Cheers! |
